Design and characterization of an antiproton deceleration beamline for the PUMA experiment / Fischer, Jonas (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Schmidt, Alexander (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Azaryan, Nikolay (CERN) ; Butin, François (CERN) ; Somoza, Jose Ferreira (CERN) ; Husson, Audric (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Klink, Clara (CERN) ; Obertelli, Alexandre (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Schlaich, Moritz (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Sinturel, Alexandre (CERN) et al.
We report on the design and characterization of an antiproton deceleration beamline, based on a pulsed drift tube, for the PUMA experiment at the Antimatter Factory at CERN. The design has been tailored to high-voltage (100 kV) and ultra-high vacuum (below $10^{-10}$ mbar) conditions. [...]

Energy deposition studies for the Upgrade II of LHCb at the CERN Large Hadron Collider / Ciccotelli, Alessia (CERN ; U. Manchester (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Appleby, Robert B. (U. Manchester (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Buffet, Kevin (CERN) ; Butin, Francois (CERN) ; Corti, Gloria (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Garcia Alia, Ruben (CERN) ; Karacson, Matthias (CERN) ; Lerner, Giuseppe (CERN) et al.
The Upgrade II of the LHCb experiment is proposed to be installed during the CERN Long Shutdown 4, aiming to operate LHCb at 1.5x$10^{34}cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ that is 75 times its design luminosity and reaching an integrated luminosity of about $400 fb^{-1}$ by the end of the High Luminosity LHC era. This increase of the data sample at LHCb is an unprecedented opportunity for heavy flavour physics measurements. [...]

Implications of the Upgrade II of LHCb on the LHC Insertion Region 8: From Energy Deposition Studies to Mitigation Strategies / Ciccotelli, Alessia (CERN ; U. Manchester (main)) ; Appleby, Robert B (U. Manchester (main)) ; Butin, Francois (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Humann, Barbara (TU Vienna ; CERN) ; Wehrle, Maud (CERN)
Starting from LHC Run3, a first upgrade of the LHCb experiment (Upgrade I) will enable oeration with a significantly increased instantaneous luminosity in the LHC Insertion Region 8 (IR8), up to 2 $\cdot$ 10$^{33}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. Moreover, the proposed second upgrade of the LHCb experiment (Upgrade II) aims at increasing it by an extra factor 7.5 (up to 1.5 $\cdot$ 10$^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$, as of Run 5) and collecting an integrated luminosity of 400fb$^{-1}$ by the end of Run 6. The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton storage ring (ELENA) is an upgrade project at the CERN AD (Antiproton Decelerator). ELENA will further decelerate the 5.3 MeV antiprotons coming from the AD down to 100 keV. [...]

PUMA, antiProton unstable matter annihilation / PUMA Collaboration
PUMA, antiProton Unstable Matter Annihilation, is a nuclear-physics experiment at CERN aiming at probing the surface properties of stable and rare isotopes by use of low-energy antiprotons. Low-energy antiprotons offer a very unique sensitivity to the neutron and proton densities at the annihilation site, i.e. [...]

The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring ELENA is a small synchrotron recently constructed and commissioned to decelerate antiprotons injected from the Antiproton Decelerator AD with a kinetic energy of 5.3 MeV down to 100 keV. Controlled deceleration in the synchrotron, equipped with an electron cooler to reduce losses and generate dense bunches, allows the experiments, typically capturing the antiprotons in traps and manipulating them further, to improve the trapping efficiency by one to two orders of magnitude. [...]
