CERN Secondary Beamlines Software Migration Project
/ Gerbershagen, Alexander (CERN) ; Banerjee, Dipanwita (CERN) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Brugger, Markus (CERN) ; Charitonidis, Nikolaos (CERN) ; D'Alessandro, Gian Luigi (CERN ; Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Gatignon, Laurent (CERN) ; Montbarbon, Eva (CERN) ; Peres, Inbal (CERN ; Technion) ; Rae, Bastien (CERN) et al.
The Experimental Areas group of the CERN Engineering department operates a number of beamlines for the fixed target experiments, irradiation facilities and test beams. The software currently used for the simulation of the beamline layout (BEATCH), beam optics (TRANSPORT), particle tracking (TURTLE) and muon halo calculation (HALO) has been developed in FORTRAN in the 1980s and requires an update in order to ensure long-term continuity. The New CERN Low-energy Facilities for Neutrino Detector Tests
/ Bernhard, J (CERN) ; Charitonidis, N (CERN) ; Banerjee, D (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Chatzidaki, P (CERN) ; D' Alessandro, G L (CERN) ; van Dijk, M (CERN) ; Gatignon, L (CERN) ; Gerbershagen, A (CERN) ; Montbarbon, E (CERN) et al.
The beamlines at CERN’s North and East Areas offer secondary beams in a wide range of momenta between 0.5 GeV/$c$ and 400 GeV/$c$ for fixed-target experiments as well as for test beam campaigns with a flexible configuration and variable beam composition and intensities. Recently, two new facilities for neutrino detectors tests have been established in an extension of the CERN North Area in context of the CERN Neutrino Platform project. [...]

An exploratory study has been launched at CERN in 2016 aiming at exploiting the full scientific potential of CERN’s accelerator complex and its scientific infrastructure through projects complementary to the LHC, HL-LHC and other possible future colliders. These projects will address possible experiments over the period from 2021 to about 2040. [...]

Studies for New Experiments at the CERN M2 Beamline within "Physics Beyond Colliders": AMBER/COMPASS++, NA64$\mu$, MuonE
/ NA64 collaboration
The "Physics Beyond Colliders (PBC)" study explores fundamental physics opportunities at the CERN accelerator complex complementary to collider experiments. Three new collaborations aim to exploit the M2 beamline in the North Area with existing high-intensity muon and hadron beams, but also aspire to go beyond the current M2 capabilities with a RF-separated, high intensity hadron beam, under study. [...]

CERN has a unique set of secondary beam lines, which deliver particle beams extracted from the PS and SPS accelerators after their interaction with a target, reaching energies up to 400 GeV. These beam lines provide a crucial contribution for test beam facilities and host several fixed target experiments. [...]

The East Area at the Proton Synchrotron is one of the intensely used facilities at CERN, serving for over 56 years beams nowadays to more than 20 user teams and experiments for about 200 days of running each year. Besides primary proton and ion beams for the irradiation facilities IRRAD and CHARM, mixed secondary beams of hadrons, electrons and muons within a range of 0.5 GeV/c to 12 GeV/c are provided. [...]

For many decades the CERN North Area facility at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) has delivered secondary beams to various fixed target experiments and test beams. In 2018, two new tertiary extensions of the existing beam lines, designated “H2-VLE” and “H4-VLE”, have been constructed and successfully commissioned. [...]
