We present the open-source package openQ*D-1.0, which has been primarily, but not uniquely, designed to perform lattice simulations of QCD+QED and QCD, with and without C* boundary conditions, and O(a) improved Wilson fermions. The use of C* boundary conditions in the spatial direction allows for a local and gauge-invariant formulation of QCD+QED in finite volume, and provides a theoretically clean setup to calculate isospin-breaking and radiative corrections to hadronic observables from first principles. Gauge invariant determination of charged hadron masses
/ Hansen, Martin (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins) ; Lucini, Biagio (Swansea U. (main)) ; Patella, Agostino (CERN ; Plymouth U.) ; Tantalo, Nazario (U. Rome 2, Tor Vergata (main) ; INFN, Rome2)
In this paper we show, for the first time, that charged-hadron masses can be calculated on the lattice without relying on gauge fixing at any stage of the calculations. In our simulations we follow a recent proposal and formulate full QCD+QED on a finite volume, without spoiling locality, by imposing C-periodic boundary conditions in the spatial directions. [...]

openQ*D simulation code for QCD+QED

The openQ*D code for the simulation of QCD+QED with C$^\star$ boundary conditions is presented. This code is based on openQCD-1.6, from which it inherits the core features that ensure its efficiency: the locally-deflated SAP-preconditioned GCR solver, the twisted-mass frequency splitting of the fermion action, the multilevel integrator, the 4th order OMF integrator, the SSE/AVX intrinsics, etc. [...]

Simulations of QCD and QED with C* boundary conditions
/ Hansen, Martin (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins) ; Lucini, Biagio (Swansea U.) ; Patella, Agostino (CERN ; Plymouth U., Math. Stat. Dept. ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore) ; Tantalo, Nazario (Rome U., Tor Vergata ; INFN, Rome2)
We present exploratory results from dynamical simulations of QCD in isolation, as well as QCD coupled to QED, with C* boundary conditions. In finite volume, the use of C* boundary conditions allows for a gauge invariant and local formulation of QED without zero modes. [...]

Composite Higgs Dynamics on the Lattice
/ Pica, Claudio (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins ; U. Southern Denmark, Odense, DIAS) ; Drach, Vincent (CERN) ; Hansen, Martin (U. Southern Denmark, Odense, DIAS ; Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins) ; Sannino, Francesco (U. Southern Denmark, Odense, DIAS ; Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins)
We investigate the spectrum of the SU(2) gauge theory with $N_f$ = 2 flavors of fermions in the fundamental representation, in the continuum, using lattice simulations. This model provides a minimal template which has been used for different strongly coupled extensions of the Standard Model ranging from composite (Goldstone) Higgs models to intriguing types of dark matter candidates, such as the SIMPs. We present a practical strategy to optimize a set of Hybrid Monte Carlo parameters in simulations of QCD and QCD-like theories. We specialize to the case of mass-preconditioning, with multiple time-step Omelyan integrators. [...]

SU(2) Gauge Theory with Two Fundamental Flavours: a Minimal Template for Model Building
/ Arthur, Rudy (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins ; U. Southern Denmark, Odense, DIAS) ; Drach, Vincent (CERN) ; Hansen, Martin (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins ; U. Southern Denmark, Odense, DIAS) ; Hietanen, Ari (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins ; U. Southern Denmark, Odense, DIAS) ; Pica, Claudio (Southern Denmark U., CP3-Origins ; U. We investigate the continuum spectrum of the SU(2) gauge theory with $N_f=2$ flavours of fermions in the fundamental representation. This model provides a minimal template which is ideal for a wide class of Standard Model extensions featuring novel strong dynamics that range from composite (Goldstone) Higgs theories to several intriguing types of dark matter candidates, such as the SIMPs.
