Shielded Pair Method for Beam Screen Surface Resistance Measurement at Cryogenic Temperature / Brunner, Kristóf (CERN ; Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Krkotić, Patrick (CERN) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Barna, Dániel (Wigner RCP, Budapest)
The shielded pair resonator method is a useful tool in the measurement of accelerator components, such as the beam screens used in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the High-Luminosity (HL) LHC, or future accelerators. It can measure the resistive losses at several frequency points by separating the resistive losses on the sample from other sources of losses. [...]

Superconducting magnets technology for a European heavy ion gantry / Prioli, Marco (LASA, Segrate) ; Santini, Carlo (LASA, Segrate) ; Barna, Daniel (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Gusvitskii, Todor (Rome U.) ; Perini, Diego (CERN) ; Bianchi, E (INFN, Genoa) ; Felcini, Enrico (CNAO, Milan) ; De Matteis, Ernesto (LASA, Segrate) ; Toral, Fernando (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Levi, Filippo (INFN, Genoa) et al.
Various initiatives in Europe have been launched to study superconducting magnets for a rotatable gantry suitable to deliver up to 430 MeV/u carbon ions for hadron therapy. Different technologies and layouts are being considered: the baseline solution is developed within the EuroSIG collaboration and consists of a strongly curved cos-$\theta$ dipole based on the classical NbTi superconductor. Strongly curved super-conducting magnets: beam optics modeling and field quality / Benedetto, E (Unlisted, CH) ; Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; D’Addazio, M (Unlisted, IT) ; Maria, R De (CERN) ; Felcini, E (Unlisted, IT) ; Frisella, G (Unlisted, IT) ; Garolfi, L (Unlisted, CH ; CERN) ; Latina, A (CERN) ; Norman, H (Manchester U.) ; Oponowicz, E (CERN) et al.
Superconducting dipoles with a strong curvature (radius smaller than 2 meters, for an aperture of about 100 mm and a length of 1-3 meters) are required for applications where compactness is key, such as the synchrotron and gantry for Carbon-ion therapy developed within the European program HITRIplus.Such magnets challenge several assumptions in the field description and put to the test the range of validity of beam optics codes. In particular, the equivalence that holds for the straight magnets between the transverse multipoles description obtained from the Fourier analysis (used for magnet design and measurements) and the Taylor expansion of the vertical field component along the horizontal axis (used in beam optics) is not valid any longer. Conceptual Design of an HTS Canted Cosine Theta Dipole Magnet for Research and Hadron Therapy Accelerators / De Matteis, E (INFN, Milan) ; Ballarino, A (CERN) ; Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Carloni, A (INFN, Milan) ; Echeandia, A (Elytt, Madrid) ; Kirby, G (CERN) ; Lecrevisse, T (Saclay) ; Lucas, J (Elytt, Madrid) ; Mariotto, S (INFN, Milan) ; van Nugteren, J et al.
The European project IFAST's WP8 Innovative Superconducting Magnets aims to develop the technology of Canted Cosine Theta (CCT) magnets wound with High-Temperature Superconductors (HTS). Superconducting magnets could lower the size and cost of synchrotrons and gantries for research and hadron therapy. [...]

Status of Nb-Ti CCT Magnet EU Programs for Hadron Therapy / Toral, F (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Calzolaio, C (PSI, Villigen) ; Carloni, A (INFN, Milan) ; Ceruti, G (CERN) ; De Matteis, E (INFN, Milan) ; Kirby, G (CERN) ; Lecrevisse, T (Saclay) ; Mariotto, S (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Munilla, J (Madrid, CIEMAT) et al.
The use of Canted Cosine Theta (CCT) magnets for accelerator applications has gained popularity due to their ease of manufacturing and assembly. In the context of two EU-Horizon2020-funded projects, HITRIplus and IFAST, the development of two 80 mm free bore and 4 T central field CCT dipoles for use in ion therapy (hadron therapy) is underway. Test Results of the First Wax-Impregnated Nb-Ti Canted Cosine Theta Septum Magnet “SuShi” / Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Brunner, K (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Borburgh, J (CERN) ; Atanasov, M (CERN) ; Lackner, F (CERN) ; Olvegård, M (Uppsala U.) ; Pepitone, K (Uppsala U.) ; Kern, Rocio Santiago (Uppsala U.) ; Svanberg, C (Uppsala U.) ; Bagni, T (Uppsala U.)
In the framework of the future circular collider study, a new septum magnet concept (“SuShi”) has been developed, and a prototype was built at Wigner RCP, and tested at the FREIA facility of Uppsala University. The concept uses a canted cosine theta (CCT)-like superconducting magnet and a passive superconducting shield to create a zero-field and high-field region within its aperture. [...]

In the framework of the Future Circular Collider Study a new septum magnet concept, nicknamed ‘SuShi’ has been developed, and a prototype was built at Wigner Research Center for Physics, and tested at the FREIA facility of Uppsala University in April 2023. The concept uses a canted cosine theta (CCT)-like superconducting magnet and a passive superconducting shield to create a zero-field and high-field region within its aperture. [...]
