The LHC-forward experiment (LHCf), located at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), is designed to
measure the production cross section of neutral particles in the very-forward region, covering the
pseudorapidity region above 8.4 (up to zero-degree particles). By measuring the very-forward
particle production rates at the highest energy possible at an accelerator, LHCf will provide
fundamental informations to improve phenomenological hadronic interaction models used in the
simulation of air-showers induced by ultra-high-energy cosmic rays in the atmosphere. [...]

The LHCf experiment at the Large Hadron Collider: status and prospects

/LHCf
The forward η mesons production has been observed by the Large Hadron Collider forward (LHCf) experiment in proton-proton collision at √s=13 TeV. This paper presents the measurement of the inclusive production rate of η in pT < 1.1 GeV/c, expressed as a function of the Feynman-x variable. [...]

The LHCf experiment, at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), consists of two small independent calorimeters placed 140 metres away, on opposite sides of the ATLAS interaction point (IP1). LHCf has the capability to measure zero-degree neutral particles, covering the pseudorapidity region above 8.4. [...]

Status and Prospects of the LHCf and RHICf experiments
/ LHCf Collaboration
Precise understanding of hadronic interactions at high energies is a key to improve mass composition measurements of very high energy cosmic-rays and to solve the muon excess issue observed in high energy cosmic-ray experiments using an air-shower technique. The LHCf and RHICf experiments measures the differential production cross sections of very forward neutral particle as photons, neutral pions and neutrons at LHC and RHIC, respectively. [...]

The LHCf forward (LHCf) experiment measures the production cross sections of neutral particles emitted to the very forward region of an LHC interaction point in order to test the hadronic interaction models used in air-shower simulations. In this proceedings, we present the neutron and $\pi^0$ spectra measured in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. [...]

LHCf motivations and prospects of p-O collisions
/ Tiberio, Alessio (speaker) (Universita e INFN, Firenze (IT))
A proton-oxygen run at the LHC would be a unique opportunity to reproduce the collision of a cosmic ray with a light nucleus of the atmosphere. The LHCf experiment will have the possibility to perform direct measurements of the very-forward neutral particle production and the nuclear modification factor without the need of an interpolation of the results in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions.
