Particle physics today faces the challenge of explaining the mystery of dark matter, the origin of matter over anti-matter in the Universe, the origin of the neutrino masses, the apparent fine-tuning of the electro-weak scale, and many other aspects of fundamental physics. Perhaps the most striking frontier to emerge in the search for answers involves new physics at mass scales comparable to familiar matter, below the GeV-scale, or even radically below, down to sub-eV scales, and with very feeble interaction strength. Theory, phenomenology, and experimental avenues for dark showers: a Snowmass 2021 report
/ Albouy, Guillaume (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Barron, Jared (Toronto U.) ; Beauchesne, Hugues (NCTS, Taipei) ; Bernreuther, Elias (Fermilab) ; Bona, Marcella (Queen Mary, U. of London) ; Cazzaniga, Cesare (Zurich, ETH) ; Cesarotti, Cari (Harvard U.) ; Cohen, Timothy (Oregon U.) ; de Cosa, Annapaola (Zurich, ETH) ; Curtin, David (Toronto U.) et al.
In this work, we consider the case of a strongly coupled dark/hidden sector, which extends the Standard Model (SM) by adding an additional non-Abelian gauge group. These extensions generally contain matter fields, much like the SM quarks, and gauge fields similar to the SM gluons. [...]

Feebly-interacting particles: FIPs 2020 workshop report

Phys.) ; Bauer, Martin (Durham U., IPPP) ; Beacham, James (Duke U.) ; Berlin, Asher (New York U., CCPP ; New York U.) ; Boyarsky, Alexey (Leiden U.) ; Cebrian, Susana (Zaragoza U.) ; Cid-Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; d'Enterria, David (CERN) ; De Roeck, Albert (CERN) ; Drewes, Marco (Louvain U., CP3) et al.
With the establishment and maturation of the experimental programs searching for new physics with sizeable couplings at the LHC, there is an increasing interest in the broader particle and astrophysics community for exploring the physics of light and feebly-interacting particles as a paradigm complementary to a New Physics sector at the TeV scale and beyond. FIPs 2020 has been the first workshop fully dedicated to the physics of feebly-interacting particles and was held virtually from 31 August to 4 September 2020. [...]

Gravitational Wave and CMB Probes of Axion Kination
/ Co, Raymond T. (Minnesota U., Theor. Phys. Inst.) ; Dunsky, David (UC, Berkeley ; LBL, Berkeley) ; Fernandez, Nicolas (Illinois U., Urbana) ; Ghalsasi, Akshay (Pittsburgh U.) ; Hall, Lawrence J. (UC, Berkeley ; LBL, Berkeley) ; Harigaya, Keisuke (CERN ; Princeton, Inst. Advanced Study) ; Shelton, Jessie (Illinois U., Urbana)
Rotations of an axion field in field space provide a natural origin for an era of kination domination, where the energy density is dominated by the kinetic term of the axion field, preceded by an early era of matter domination. Remarkably, no entropy is produced at the end of matter domination and hence these eras of matter and kination domination may occur even after Big Bang Nucleosynthesis. [...]
