Measurement of the fractional radiation length of a pixel module for the CMS Phase-2 upgrade via the multiple scattering of positrons / Tracker Group of the CMS Collaboration
High-luminosity particle collider experiments such as the ones planned at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider require ever-greater vertexing precision of the tracking detectors, necessitating also reductions in the material budget of the detectors. Traditionally, the fractional radiation length ($x/X_0$) of detectors is either estimated using known properties of the constituent materials, or measured in dedicated runs of the final detector. Applying the frozen-spin technique in a compact3 T solenoid will enable a search for the muon electricdipole moment (EDM) with unprecedented sensitivity, improving uponthe current direct limit by approximately a factor of 1000. Afterinjection of a selected muon, a pulsed magnetic field will reduceits longitudinal momentum sufficiently to be confined within astatic weakly-focusing magnetic field and maintain a closed circularorbit. Superconducting shield for the injection channel of the muEDM experiment at PSI / muEDM Collaboration
At the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), we are setting up an experiment to search for the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the muon using the frozen-spin technique. The discovery of a muon EDM would indicate violation of charge conjugation parity symmetry (CP-violation) and lepton flavor universality, beyond the Standard Model. [...]

Preparations for a search of the muon EDM at PSI / Schmidt-Wellenburg, P (PSI, Villigen) ; Calzolaio, C (PSI, Villigen) ; Doinaki, A (PSI, Villigen) ; Dutsov, C (PSI, Villigen) ; Giovannozzi, M (CERN) ; Hume, T (PSI, Villigen) ; Trillaud, F (Mexico U.) /muEDM Collaboration
Electric dipole moments (EDMs) of fundamental particles violate time invariance and the combined symmetry of charge and parity (CP). The existence of a large muon EDM (muEDM) is made plausible by tensions with Standard Model predictions for semileptonic decays of heavy meson measured at LHCb, BaBar, and Belle, as well as the muon’s anomalous magnetic moment (AMM). Anomalous spin precession systematic effects in the search for a muon EDM using the frozen-spin technique / Cavoto, G. (INFN, Rome) ; Chakraborty, R. (PSI, Villigen) ; Doinaki, A. At the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), we are currently working on the development of a high-precision apparatus with the aim of searching for the muon electric dipole moment (EDM) with unprecedented sensitivity. The underpinning principle of this experiment is the frozen-spin technique, a method that suppresses the spin precession due to the anomalous magnetic moment, thereby enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio for EDM signals. Permanent electric dipole moments (EDMs) are excellent probes of physics beyond the Standard Model, especially on new sources of CP violation. The muon EDM has recently attracted significant attention due to discrepancies in the magnetic anomaly of the muon, as well as potential violations of lepton-flavor universality in B-meson decays. Search for the muon electric dipole moment using frozen-spin technique at PSI / muon EDM initiative Collaboration
The presence of a permanent electric dipole moment in an elementary particle implies Charge-Parity symmetry violation and thus could help explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry observed in our universe. Within the context of the Standard Model, the electric dipole moment of elementary particles is extremely small. [...]

We present the result of an experiment to measure the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron at the Paul Scherrer Institute using Ramsey's method of separated oscillating magnetic fields with ultracold neutrons (UCN). Our measurement stands in the long history of EDM experiments probing physics violating time reversal invariance. [...]

An array of sixteen laser-pumped scalar Cs magnetometers was part of the neutron electric dipole moment (nEDM) experiment taking data at the Paul Scherrer Institute in 2015 and 2016. It was deployed to measure the gradients of the experiment's magnetic field and to monitor their temporal evolution. [...]
