SMEFT analysis of mW
/ Bagnaschi, Emanuele (CERN) ; Ellis, John (CERN ; King's Coll. London ; NICPB, Tallinn) ; Madigan, Maeve (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Mimasu, Ken (CERN) ; Sanz, Veronica (Valencia U., IFIC ; Sussex U.) ; You, Tevong (King's Coll. London ; Cambridge U., DAMTP ; Cambridge U.)
We use the Fitmaker tool to incorporate the recent CDF measurement of mW in a global fit to electroweak, Higgs, and diboson data in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) including dimension-6 operators at linear order. We find that including any one of the SMEFT operators OHWB, OHD, Oℓℓ or O(3)Hℓ with a non-zero coefficient could provide a better fit than the Standard Model, with the strongest pull for OHD and no tension with other electroweak precision data. Publishing statistical models: Getting the most out of particle physics experiments
/ Cranmer, Kyle (New York U.) ; Kraml, Sabine (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Prosper, Harrison B. (Florida State U.) ; Bechtle, Philip (Bonn U.) ; Bernlochner, Florian U. (Bonn U.) ; Bloch, Itay M. (Tel Aviv U. The statistical models used to derive the results of experimental analyses are of incredible scientific value and are essential information for analysis preservation and reuse. In this paper, we make the scientific case for systematically publishing the full statistical models and discuss the technical developments that make this practical. [...]

The LHC Olympics 2020 a community challenge for anomaly detection in high energy physics
/ Kasieczka, Gregor (Hamburg U.) ; Nachman, Benjamin (LBL, Berkeley ; UC, Berkeley, Miller Inst.) ; Shih, David (Rutgers U., Piscataway) ; Amram, Oz (Johns Hopkins U.) ; Andreassen, Anders (Google Inc.) ; Benkendorfer, Kees (LBL, Berkeley ; Reed Coll.) ; Bortolato, Blaz (Stefan Inst., Ljubljana) ; Brooijmans, Gustaaf (Nevis Labs, Columbia U.) ; Canelli, Florencia (Zurich U.) ; Collins, Jack H. (SLAC) et al.
A new paradigm for data-driven, model-agnostic new physics searches at colliders is emerging, and aims to leverage recent breakthroughs in anomaly detection and machine learning. In order to develop and benchmark new anomaly detection methods within this framework, it is essential to have standard datasets. [...]

Top, Higgs, Diboson and Electroweak Fit to the Standard Model Effective Field Theory
/ Ellis, John (King's Coll. London ; CERN ; NICPB, Tallinn) ; Madigan, Maeve (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Mimasu, Ken (King's Coll. London) ; Sanz, Veronica (Valencia U., IFIC ; Sussex U.) ; You, Tevong (CERN ; Cambridge U., DAMTP ; Cambridge U.)
The search for effective field theory deformations of the Standard Model (SM) is a major goal of particle physics that can benefit from a global approach in the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). For the first time, we include LHC data on top production and differential distributions together with Higgs production and decay rates and Simplified Template Cross-Section (STXS) measurements in a global fit, as well as precision electroweak and diboson measurements from LEP and the LHC, in a global analysis with SMEFT operators of dimension 6 included linearly. We report on the status of efforts to improve the reinterpretation of searches and measurements at the LHC in terms of models for new physics, in the context of the LHC Reinterpretation Forum. We detail current experimental offerings in direct searches for new particles, measurements, technical implementations and Open Data, and provide a set of recommendations for further improving the presentation of LHC results in order to better enable reinterpretation in the future.
