Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Anania, M P (LNF, Dafne Light) ; Andreev, N E (Lebedev Inst. ; Moscow, MIPT) ; Andriyash, I (SOLEIL, Saint-Aubin) ; Aschikhin, A (DESY) ; Assmann, R W (DESY) ; Audet, T (LPGP, Orsay) et al.
Plasma accelerators present one of the most suitable candidates for the development of more compact particle acceleration technologies, yet they still lag behind radiofrequency (RF)-based devices when it comes to beam quality, control, stability and power efficiency. The Horizon 2020-funded project EuPRAXIA (“European Plasma Research Accelerator with eXcellence In Applications”) aims to overcome the first three of these hurdles by developing a conceptual design for a first international user facility based on plasma acceleration. High-spin states of $^{218}$Th / O'Donnell, D (SUPA, UK ; Liverpool U. ; IIT, Roorkee) ; Page, R D (Liverpool U.) ; Grahn, T (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Ali, F A (Liverpool U. ; Sulaimaniya U.) ; Auranen, K (Jyvaskyla U.) ; Capponi, L (SUPA, UK) ; Carroll, R J (Liverpool U.) ; Chishti, M M R (SUPA, UK) ; Drummond, M C (Liverpool U.) ; Greenlees, P T (Jyvaskyla U.) et al.
High-spin states in the $N = 128$ nucleus $^{218}$Th have been investigated following fusion–evaporation reactions, using the recoil-decay tagging technique. Due to the short-lived nature of the ground state of $^{218}$Th prompt $\gamma$ rays have been correlated with the $\alpha$ decay of the daughter nucleus $^{214}$Ra. [...]

The Horizon 2020 Project EuPRAXIA (European Plasma Research Accelerator with eXcellence In Applications) is producing a conceptual design report for a highly compact and cost-effective European facility with multi-GeV electron beams accelerated using plasmas. EuPRAXIA will be set up as a distributed Open Innovation platform with two construction sites, one with a focus on beam-driven plasma acceleration (PWFA) and another site with a focus on laser-driven plasma acceleration (LWFA). The Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (CRIS) experimental setup at CERN-ISOLDE / Cocolios, T E (Manchester U. ; CERN) ; Neyens, G (Louvain U.) ; Procter, T J (Manchester U.) ; Rothe, S (CERN ; Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R F (Louvain U.) ; Stroke, H H (New York U.) ; Rossel, R E (CERN ; Mainz U., Inst. Phys.) ; Heylen, H (Louvain U.) ; Franchoo, S (Orsay, IPN) ; Marsh, B A (CERN) et al.
The CRIS setup at CERN-ISOLDE is a laser spectroscopy experiment dedicated to the high-resolution study of the spin, hyperfine structure and isotope shift of radioactive nuclei with low production rates (a few per second). It combines the Doppler-free resolution of the in-flight collinear geometry with the high detection efficiency of resonant ionisation. [...]

A new decay-spectroscopy station (DSS) has been developed to be coupled to the collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy (CRIS) beam line at CERN-ISOLDE. The system uses a rotatable wheel with ten 20@mg/cm^2 carbon foils as beam implantation sites for the efficient measurement of charged decay products. [...]

The population and -decay of n-rich nuclei around 48Ca has been measured with the PRISMA-CLARA setup using deep-inelastic collisions (DIC) on 64Ni, at energies ~2.5 times above the Coulomb barrier. After a careful analysis of the response of the PRISMA magnetic spectrometer, a detailed investigation of the reaction properties is carried out. [...]
