(JAEA, Ibaraki) et al.
Detailed γ-ray spectroscopy of the exotic neon isotope 28Ne has been performed for the first time using the one-neutron removal reaction from 29Ne on a liquid hydrogen target at 240~MeV/nucleon. Based on an analysis of parallel momentum distributions, a level scheme with spin-parity assignments has been constructed for 28Ne and the negative-parity states are identified for the first time. PUMA, antiProton unstable matter annihilation
/ PUMA Collaboration
PUMA, antiProton Unstable Matter Annihilation, is a nuclear-physics experiment at CERN aiming at probing the surface properties of stable and rare isotopes by use of low-energy antiprotons. Low-energy antiprotons offer a very unique sensitivity to the neutron and proton densities at the annihilation site, i.e. [...]

Coulomb excitation of (31)Mg

The ground state properties of 31 Mg indicate a change of nuclear shape at N=19 with a deformed Jπ=1/2+ intruder state as a ground state, implying that 31 Mg is part of the “island of inversion”. The collective properties of excited states were the subject of a Coulomb excitation experiment at REX-ISOLDE, CERN, employing a radioactive 31 Mg beam. [...]

At the newly constructed postaccelerator REX-ISOLDE ( R adioactive beam Ex periment at ISOLDE) we have investigated reactions induced by a 9 Li beam incident on a deuterium target at an energy of 2.36 MeV/u. Most reaction channels were recorded. [...]

One-proton removal reactions of 936 MeV/u 8 B have been studied with carbon and lead as breakup targets. Using the FRS at GSI, the longitudinal momentum distributions of the 7 Be fragments and the one-proton removal cross section of 8 B were measured [...]

The isotopes Cd122,124,126 were studied in a “safe” Coulomb-excitation experiment at the radioactive ion-beam facility REX-ISOLDE at CERN. The reduced transition probabilities B(E2;0g.s.+→21+) and limits for the quadrupole moments of the first 2+ excited states in the three isotopes were determined. [...]

The nucleosynthesis of elements beyond iron is dominated by neutron captures in the s and r processes. However, 32 stable, proton-rich isotopes cannot be formed during those processes, because they are shielded from the s-process flow and r-process beta-decay chains. [...]
