Axions are a natural consequence of the Peccei-Quinn mechanism, the most compelling solution to the strong-CP problem. Similar axion-like particles (ALPs) also appear in a number of possible extensions of the Standard Model, notably in string theories. [...]

Pixel architectures in a HV-CMOS process for the ATLAS inner detector upgrade
/ Degerli, Y (IRFU, Saclay) ; Godiot, S (Marseille, CPPM) ; Guilloux, F (IRFU, Saclay) ; Hemperek, T (Bonn U.) ; Krüger, H (Bonn U.) ; Lachkar, M (IRFU, Saclay) ; Liu, J (Marseille, CPPM) ; Orsini, F (IRFU, Saclay) ; Pangaud, P (Marseille, CPPM) ; Rymaszewski, P (Bonn U.) et al.
In this paper, design details and simulation results of new pixel architectures designed in LFoundry 150 nm high voltage CMOS process in the framework of the ATLAS high luminosity inner detector upgrade are presented. These pixels can be connected to the FE-I4 readout chip via bump bonding or glue and some of them can also be tested without a readout chip. [...]

Validation of CMOS Active Pixel Sensor with double readout rolling shutter architecture for charged particle tracking

Rolling shutter readout is a classical architecture in CMOS Active Pixel Sensors (APS) usually well suited to reduce the power consumption in the active area of the sensor by activating only one row at a time for reset and readout operations. Its benefits are widely used from imaging sensors to high energy physics sensors where large sensing area and low power consumptions are an issue. [...]

PIXAM: A full scale building block prototype sensor with in-pixel discrimination and improved rolling shutter architecture for the ALICE MFT
/ Değerli, Yavuz (IRFU, Saclay) ; Flouzat, Christophe (IRFU, Saclay) ; Guilloux, Fabrice (IRFU, Saclay) ; Orsini, Fabienne (IRFU, Saclay) ; Venault, Philippe (IRFU, Saclay)
Digital CMOS monolithic pixels sensors have been chosen for the upgrades of internal trackers of the ALICE experiment at CERN, namely MFT (Muon Forward Tracker) and ITS (Inner Tracking System). The existing mature rolling shutter mode CMOS sensor architecture needs several improvements in terms of readout speed and power dissipation in order to fulfill the requirements of ALICE upgrades. Development of a Depleted Monolithic CMOS Sensor in a 150 nm CMOS Technology for the ATLAS Inner Tracker Upgrade
/ Wang, T. (Bonn U.) ; Rymaszewski, P. (Bonn U.) ; Barbero, M. (Marseille, CPPM) ; Degerli, Y. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Godiot, S. (Marseille, CPPM) ; Guilloux, F. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Hemperek, T. (Bonn U.) ; Hirono, T. (Bonn U.) ; Krüger, H. (Bonn U.) ; Liu, J. (Marseille, CPPM) et al.
The recent R&D; focus on CMOS sensors with charge collection in a depleted zone has opened new perspectives for CMOS sensors as fast and radiation hard pixel devices. These sensors, labelled as depleted CMOS sensors (DMAPS), have already shown promising performance as feasible candidates for the ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) upgrade, possibly replacing the current passive sensors. Zero suppression logic of the ALICE muon forward tracker pixel chip prototype PIXAM and associated readout electronics development
/ Flouzat, C (IRFU, Saclay) ; Değerli, Y (IRFU, Saclay) ; Guilloux, F (IRFU, Saclay) ; Orsini, F (IRFU, Saclay) ; Venault, P (IRFU, Saclay)
In the framework of the ALICE experiment upgrade at HL-LHC, a new forward tracking detector, the Muon Forward Tracker (MFT), is foreseen to overcome the intrinsic limitations of the present Muon Spectrometer and will perform new measurements of general interest for the whole ALICE physics. To fulfill the new detector requirements, CMOS Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS) provide an attractive trade-off between readout speed, spatial resolution, radiation hardness, granularity, power consumption and material budget.
