The role of the NA62 RICH in the $BR(K^+ \to \pi^+ \nu \bar\nu)$ measurement / Volpe, R (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence ; Louvain U., CP3) ; Anzivino, G (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Aisa, D (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Barbanera, M (INFN, Perugia) ; Bizzarri, M (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Bizzeti, A (Florence U. ; INFN, Florence ; Modena U.) ; Brizioli, F (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Bucci, F (INFN, Florence) ; Campeggi, C (Perugia U. ; INFN, Perugia) ; Carassiti, V (INFN, Ferrara) et al.
The NA62 experiment aims to measure the $BR$($K^+$ $\rightarrow$ $\pi^+$ $v$ $\overline{v}$) with a 10% precision. One of the main backgrounds comes from the decay $K^+$ $\rightarrow$ $\mu^+$ $v$ , therefore a highly powerful pion/muon separation is needed. [...]

The Ring Imaging Cherenkov detector of the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS is a key element of particle identification in the NA62 experimental strategy. The detector fulfills different conditions: to distinguish pions from muons with a muon rejection factor of O(10$^2$) in the NA62 momentum range of operation, between 15 and 35 GeV/c; to measure particle arrival time in the decay region with a precision better than 100 ps; to provide fast signals and reference time to the NA62 trigger system. NA62 is the last generation kaon experiment at CERN SPS aiming to study the decay K$^+$ $\rightarrow\pi^+ \nu \bar{\nu }$. The goal of the experiment is to measure the decay branching ratio, $O$ (10$^{-10}$) , with 10% precision collecting about 100 K$^+$ $\rightarrow\pi^+ \nu \bar{\nu }$ events in three years of data taking and assuming a 10% signal acceptance. A large RICH detector is used in NA62 to suppress the muon contamination in the charged pion selection by a factor 100 in the momentum range between 15 and 35 GeV/c. The detector consists of a 17 m long tank (vessel), filled with neon gas at atmospheric pressure. [...]

The beam and detector of the NA62 experiment at CERN / NA62 Collaboration
NA62 is a fixed-target experiment at the CERN SPS dedicated to measurements of rare kaon decays. Such measurements, like the branching fraction of the $K^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{+} \nu \bar\nu$ decay, have the potential to bring significant insights into new physics processes when comparison is made with precise theoretical predictions. [...]

The NA62 experiment at CERN aims to measure the branching ratio of the ultra-rare charged kaon decay K+→π+νν¯ with a 10% accuracy and with a background contamination at the 10% level. Since the branching ratio of this decay is O (10 −10 ), to fulfill such request one of the main backgrounds, the decay K+→μ+ν (BR ~63% ), must be suppressed by a rejection factor of 4×10 −13 (assuming 10% signal acceptance). Track Reconstruction with Cosmic Ray Data at the Tracker Integration Facility / CMS Collaboration
The subsystems of the CMS silicon strip tracker were integrated and commissioned at the Tracker Integration Facility (TIF) in the period from November 2006 to July 2007. As part of the commissioning, large samples of cosmic ray data were recorded under various running conditions in the absence of a magnetic field. [...]

Alignment of the CMS Silicon Strip Tracker during stand-alone Commissioning / CMS Collaboration
The results of the CMS tracker alignment analysis are presented using the data from cosmic tracks, optical survey information, and the laser alignment system at the Tracker Integration Facility at CERN. During several months of operation in the spring and summer of 2007, about five million cosmic track events were collected with a partially active CMS Tracker. [...]
