Limits on antiproton-nuclei annihilation cross sections at ∼125 keV / Aghai-Khozani, H (Munich, Max Planck Inst. Quantenopt.) ; Barna, D (Wigner RCP, Budapest ; CERN) ; Corradini, M (Brescia U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; De Salvador, D (Padua U. ; INFN, Legnaro) ; Hayano, R S (Tokyo U.) ; Hori, M (Munich, Max Planck Inst. Quantenopt.) ; Leali, M (Brescia U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Lodi-Rizzini, E (Brescia U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Mascagna, V (Brescia U. ; INFN, Pavia ; Insubria U., Como) ; Prest, M (Insubria U., Como ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) et al.
Some experimental limits on the annihilation cross sections $σ_{\textrm{ann}}$ of antiprotons on carbon, palladium, and platinum targets were determined at the previously unexplored kinetic energy region E≈125 keV. Information on $σ_{\textrm{ann}}$ at such low antiproton energies is important in understanding the dynamics of the annihilation process, and provides useful data for models that attempt to describe the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe by assuming the existence of islands of antimatter concentration..

Method for laser spectroscopy of metastable pionic helium atoms / Hori, M (Munich, Max Planck Inst. Quantenopt.) ; Sótér, A (Munich, Max Planck Inst. Quantenopt.) ; Aghai-Khozani, H (Munich, Max Planck Inst. Quantenopt.) ; Barna, D (CERN) ; Dax, A (PSI, Villigen) ; Hayano, R S (Tokyo U.) ; Murakami, Y (Tokyo U.) ; Yamada, H (Tokyo U.)
The PiHe collaboration is currently attempting to carry out laser spectroscopy of metastable pionic helium atoms using the high-intensity π$^{−}$ beam of the ring cyclotron facility of the Paul Scherrer Institute. These atoms are heretofore hypothetical three-body Coulomb systems each composed of a helium nucleus, a π$^{−}$ occupying a Rydberg state, and an electron occupying the 1s ground state. [...]

Antihydrogen annihilation reconstruction with the ALPHA silicon detector / Andresen, G B (Aarhus U.) ; Ashkezari, M D (Simon Fraser U.) ; Bertsche, W (Swansea U.) ; Bowe, P D (Aarhus U.) ; Butler, E (CERN) ; Cesar, C L (Rio de Janeiro Federal U.) ; Chapman, S (UC, Berkeley) ; Charlton, M (Swansea U.) ; Deller, A (Swansea U.) ; Eriksson, S (Swansea U.) et al.
The ALPHA experiment has succeeded in trapping antihydrogen, a major milestone on the road to spectroscopic comparisons of antihydrogen with hydrogen. An annihilation vertex detector, which determines the time and position of antiproton annihilations, has been central to this achievement. [...]

Microwave spectroscopic study of the hyperfine structure of antiprotonic $^3$He / The ASACUSA AD-3 Collaboration
In this work we describe the latest results for the measurements of the hyperfine structure of antiprotonic $^3$He. Two out of four measurable super-super-hyperfine {SSHF} transition lines of the $(n,L)=(36,34)$ state of antiprotonic $^3$He were observed. [...]

Antiproton compression and radial measurements / Alpha Collaboration
Control of the radial profile of trapped antiproton clouds is critical to trapping antihydrogen. We report detailed measurements of the radial manipulation of antiproton clouds, including areal density compressions by factors as large as ten, achieved by manipulating spatially overlapped electron plasmas. [...]

We discuss aspects of antihydrogen studies, that relate to particle physics ideas and techniques, within the context of the ALPHA experiment at CERN's Antiproton Decelerator facility. We review the fundamental physics motivations for antihydrogen studies, and their potential physics reach. [...]

Towards trapped antihydrogen / ALPHA Collaboration
Substantial progress has been made in the last few years in the nascent field of antihydrogen physics. The next big step forward is expected to be the trapping of the formed antihydrogen atoms using a magnetic multipole trap. [...]
