Axion search with BabyIAXO in view of IAXO / Abeln, A. (Kirchhoff Inst. Phys.) ; Altenmüller, K. (Zaragoza U.) ; Cuendis, S. Arguedas (CERN) ; Armengaud, E. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Attié, D. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Aune, S. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Basso, S. (Brera Observ.) ; Bergé, L. (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Biasuzzi, B. (IRFU, Saclay) ; De Sousa, P.T.C. Borges (CERN) et al.
Axions are a natural consequence of the Peccei-Quinn mechanism, the most compelling solution to the strong-CP problem. Similar axion-like particles (ALPs) also appear in a number of possible extensions of the Standard Model, notably in string theories. [...]

Conceptual Design of BabyIAXO, the intermediate stage towards the International Axion Observatory / IAXO Collaboration
This article describes BabyIAXO, an intermediate experimental stage of the International Axion Observatory (IAXO), proposed to be sited at DESY. IAXO is a large-scale axion helioscope that will look for axions and axion-like particles (ALPs), produced in the Sun, with unprecedented sensitivity. [...]

Improved Search for Solar Chameleons with a GridPix Detector at CAST / CAST Collaboration
We report on a new search for solar chameleons with the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST). A GridPix detector was used to search for soft X-ray photons in the energy range from 200 eV to 10 keV from converted solar chameleons. [...]

New CAST Limit on the Axion-Photon Interaction / CAST Collaboration
During 2003--2015, the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) has searched for $a\to\gamma$ conversion in the 9 T magnetic field of a refurbished LHC test magnet that can be directed toward the Sun. In its final phase of solar axion searches (2013--2015), CAST has returned to evacuated magnet pipes, which is optimal for small axion masses. [...]

An update on the Axion Helioscopes front: current activities at CAST and the IAXO project / Dafni, T (Zaragoza U.) ; Arik, M (Dogus U., Kadikoy) ; Armengaud, E (IRFU, SPhN, Saclay) ; Aune, S (IRFU, Saclay) ; Avignone, F T (South Carolina U.) ; Barth, K (CERN) ; Belov, A (Moscow, INR) ; Betz, M (CERN) ; Bräuninger, H (Garching, Max Planck Inst., MPE) ; Brax, P (CERN) et al.
Although they have not yet been detected, axions and axion-like particles (ALPs) continue to maintain the interest (even increasingly so) of the rare-event searches community as viable candidates for the Dark Matter of the Universe but also as a solution for several other puzzles of astrophysics. Their property of coupling to photons has inspired different experimental methods for their detection, one of which is the helioscope technique. [...]

The IAXO Helioscope / Ferrer Ribas, E. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Armengaud, E. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Avignone, F.T. (South Carolina U.) ; Betz, M. (CERN) ; Brax, P. (IPhT, Saclay) ; Brun, P. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Cantatore, G. (INFN, Trieste ; Trieste U.) ; Carmona, J.M. (Zaragoza U.) ; Carosi, G.P. (LLNL, Livermore) ; Caspers, F. (CERN) et al.
The IAXO (International Axion Experiment) is a fourth generation helioscope with a sensitivity, in terms of detectable signal counts, at least 10(4) better than CAST phase-I, resulting in sensitivity on g(a)(γ) one order of magnitude better. To achieve this performance IAXO will count on a 8-coil toroidal magnet with 60 cm diameter bores and equipped with X-ray focusing optics into 0.20 cm(2) spots coupled to ultra-low background Micromegas X-ray detectors. The International Axion Observatory (IAXO) is a proposed 4 th -generation axion helioscope with the primary physics research goal to search for solar axions via their Primakoff conversion into photons of 1 – 10 keV energies in a strong magnetic field. IAXO will achieve a sensitivity to the axion-photon coupling g aγ down to a few ×10 −12 GeV −1 for a wide range of axion masses up to ∼ 0 . [...]

(Zaragoza U.) ; Hailey, C.J. (Columbia U.) et al.
We report on the design, construction and operation of a low background x-ray detection line composed of a shielded Micromegas (micromesh gaseous structure) detector of the microbulk technique. The detector is made from radiopure materials and is placed at the focal point of a $\sim$~5 cm diameter, 1.3 m focal-length, cone-approximation Wolter I x-ray telescope (XRT) comprised of thermally-formed (or "slumped") glass substrates deposited with multilayer coatings. The International Axion Observatory (IAXO) is a new generation axion helioscope aiming at a sensitivity to the axion-photon coupling of gaγ few × 10−12 GeV−1, i.e. 1–1.5 orders of magnitude beyond the one achieved by CAST, currently the most sensitive axion helioscope. [...]
