Configuration management of the CERN accelerators complex on the road to long shutdown 3
/ Perrot, A L (CERN) ; Bartolomé-Jimenez, S (CERN) ; Birtwistle, T (CERN) ; Chemli, S (CERN) ; Feral, B (CERN) ; Garcia Gavela, H (CERN) ; Oliveira, J (CERN) ; Ronfaut, V (CERN)
The Configuration Management of the LHC and its injectors ensures a clear and coherent representation of the CERN accelerators at a given point in time. It has been evolving steadily. [...]

360 Degree Panoramic Photographs During the Long Shutdown 2 of the CERN Machines and Facilities
/ Birtwistle, Thomas (CERN) ; Ansel, Antoine (CERN) ; Bartolomé Jiménez, Sonia (CERN) ; Feral, Bruno (CERN) ; Lacerda, Gil (CERN) ; Perrot, Anne-Laure (CERN) ; Piñera Ovejero, Juan F (CERN)
Studies and preparation of activities are key to the success of short technical stops and longer shutdowns in CERN’s accelerator complex. The ’Panorama’ tool offers a virtual tour of our facilities, and thanks to integration with other CERN tools, further complementary information can be easily retrieved, including layout information, equipment detail, and a history of changes. [...]

HL-LHC Alignment Requirements and Associated Solutions
/ Mainaud Durand, Helene (CERN) ; Bartolome-Jimenez, Sonia (CERN) ; Dijoud, Thibault (CERN) ; Duquenne, Mathieu (ESGT, Le Mans) ; Herty, Andreas (CERN) ; Rude, Vivien (ESGT, Le Mans) ; Sosin, Mateusz (CERN)
To increase by more than 10 times the luminosity reach w.r.t the first 10 years of the LHC lifetime, the HL-LHC project will replace nearly 1.2 km of the accelerator during the Long Shutdown 3 scheduled in 2024 [1][2][3]. This paper presents the HL-LHC alignment and internal metrology requirements of all the new components to be installed, from the magnet components to the beam instrumentation and vacuum devices. CERN Accelerators Topology Configuration: Facing the Next Long Shutdown
/ Bartolome-Jimenez, Sonia (CERN) ; Birtwistle, Thomas (CERN) ; Chemli, Samy (CERN) ; Gilbert, Nicolas (CERN) ; Perrot, Anne-Laure (CERN) ; Piar, Juraj (CERN) ; Simetka, Vojtech (CERN) ; Vazquez de Prada Planas, Blanca (CERN)
The Configuration and Layout (CL) team at CERN ensures that there is a clear and coherent representation of the status of the CERN underground facilities (about 60 km of equipment) and main accelerator projects at a given point in time. In view of the major equipment changes to be carried out during the extended end of year technical stop (EYETS), the next Long Shutdown (LS2), and to facilitate the associated preparatory work of multiple CERN groups, the CL team has developed an immersive visualisation tool, displaying 360 degree panoramic images of CERN underground facilities. [...]

Integration, Configuration and Coordination: from Project to Reality, at CERN
/ Barberan Marin, Maria (CERN) ; Bartolome-Jimenez, Sonia (CERN) ; Bernardini, Marzia (CERN) ; Birtwistle, Thomas (CERN) ; Chemli, Samy (CERN) ; Corso, Jean-Pierre (CERN) ; Coupard, Julie (CERN) ; Foraz, Katy (CERN) ; Grillot, Serge (CERN) ; Muttoni, Yvon (CERN) et al.
The rigorous process in place at CERN to approve and follow-up the implementation of any modification of the LHC machine and its Injectors is presented in this paper. Our methodology implies the support of three teams, in charge of the configuration management, the scheduling and safety coordination, and the 3D integration studies. [...]

Aperture Restriction Localisation in the LHC Arcs using an RF Mole and the LHC Beam Position Measurement System
/ Albertone, J (CERN) ; Bartolome-Jimenez, S (CERN) ; Boccard, C (CERN) ; Bogey, T (CERN) ; Borowiec, P (Cracow, INP) ; Calvo, E (CERN) ; Caspers, Friedhelm (CERN) ; Gasior, M (CERN) ; González, J L (CERN) ; Jenninger, B (CERN) et al.
Ensuring that the two 27km beam pipes of the LHC do not contain aperture restrictions is of utmost importance. Most of the ring is composed of continuous cryostats, so any intervention to remove aperture restrictions when the machine is at its operating temperature of 1.9K will require a substantial amount of time.
