QED effects in inclusive semi-leptonic $B$ decays / Bigi, Dante (CERN ; Turin U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich, Tech. U.) ; Bordone, Marzia (CERN) ; Gambino, Paolo (Turin U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich, Tech. U.) ; Haisch, Ulrich (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Piccione, Andrea (Turin U.)
We analyse in detail the QED corrections to the total decay width and the moments of the electron energy spectrum of the inclusive semi-leptonic $B \to X_c e \nu$ decay. Our calculation includes short-distance electroweak corrections, the complete ${\cal O}(\alpha)$ partonic terms and leading-logarithmic QED effects up to ${\cal O}(\Lambda^3_{\rm QCD}/m_b^3)$. [...]

The Vcb puzzle -- Flavour TH Institute / Gambino, Paolo (speaker)
The long-lasting discrepancy between the inclusive and exclusive determinations of the CKM element Vcb is an unlikely signal of New Physics, but it hampers significantly the precision program in flavour physics. I will review our understanding of inclusive and exclusive semileptonic b to charm decays and discuss recent theoretical and experimental progress, as well as future prospects..

50 Years of Quantum Chromodynamics / Gross, Franz (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Klempt, Eberhard (Bonn U., HISKP) ; Brodsky, Stanley J. (SLAC) ; Buras, Andrzej J. (Carnegie Mellon U.) ; Orginos, Kostas (Jefferson Lab ; William-Mary Coll.) ; Strickland, Michael (Kent State U.) et al.
This paper presents a comprehensive review of both the theory and experimental successes of Quantum Chromodynamics, starting with its emergence as a well defined theory in 1972-73 and following developments and results up to the present day. Topics include a review of the earliest theoretical and experimental foundations; the fundamental constants of QCD; an introductory discussion of lattice QCD, the only known method for obtaining exact predictions from QCD; methods for approximating QCD, with special focus on effective field theories; QCD under extreme conditions; measurements and predictions of meson and baryon states; a special discussion of the structure of the nucleon; techniques for study of QCD at high energy, including treatment of jets and showers; measurements at colliders; weak decays and quark mixing; and a section on the future, which discusses new experimental facilities or upgrades currently funded. The semileptonic $B_s$ and $\Lambda_b$ widths / Bordone, Marzia (CERN) ; Gambino, Paolo (Turin U.)
We present estimates of the semileptonic widths of the $B_s$ and $\Lambda_b$ hadrons. We employ the latest fit to the $B$ inclusive semileptonic data, the heavy quark expansion and lattice QCD results. [...]

Effective Field Theory in Particle Physics and Cosmology : Lecture Notes of the Les Houches Summer School : Volume 108, July 2017   3 - 28 Jul 2017  - Les Houches, France  / Davidson, Sacha (ed.); Gambino, Paolo (ed.); Laine, Mikko (ed.); Neubert, Matthias (ed.); Salomon, Christophe (ed.)
The topic of the CVIII session of Les Houches School, held in July 2017, was Effective Field Theory (EFT). The goal of this school was to offer a broad introduction to the foundations and modern applications of Effective Field Theory in many of its incarnations..

Flavor Physics in the Quark Sector / Antonelli, Mario (Frascati) ; Asner, David Mark (Carleton U.) ; Bauer, D. (Imperial Coll., London) ; Becher, Thomas G. (Fermilab) ; Beneke, M. (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Bevan, Adrian John (Queen Mary, U. of London) ; Blanke, Monika (Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich, Tech. U.) ; Bloise, C. (Frascati) ; Bona, Marcella (CERN) ; Bondar, Alexander E. (Novosibirsk, IYF) et al.
One of the major challenges of particle physics has been to gain an in-depth understanding of the role of quark flavor and measurements and theoretical interpretations of their results have advanced tremendously: apart from masses and quantum numbers of flavor particles, there now exist detailed measurements of the characteristics of their interactions allowing stringent tests of Standard Model predictions. Among the most interesting phenomena of flavor physics is the violation of the CP symmetry that has been subtle and difficult to explore. [...]

Complete NNLO QCD Analysis of $\overline{B} \to X_{s} l^{+} l^{-}$ and Higher Order Electroweak Effects / Bobeth, Christoph (Munich, Tech. U. ; UC, San Diego) ; Gambino, Paolo (CERN ; INFN, Turin) ; Gorbahn, Martin (Munich, Tech. U. ; Durham U., IPPP) ; Haisch, Ulrich (Fermilab)
We complete the next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD calculation of the branching ratio for B -> X_s l^+ l^- including recent results for the three-loop anomalous dimension matrix and two-loop matrix elements. These new contributions modify the branching ratio in the low-q^2 region, BR_ll, by about +2% and -2%, respectively. [...]

The Top Priority : Precision Electroweak Physics from Low to High Energy / Gambino, Paolo (CERN)
Overall, the Standard Model describes electroweak precision data rather well. There are however a few areas of tension (charged current universality, NuTeV, (g-2)_\mu, b quark asymmetries), which I review emphasizing recent theoretical and experimental progress. [...]
