The $v^{1/3}_{3}/v^{1/2}_{2}$ ratio in PbAu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} = $ 17.3 GeV: a hint of a hydrodynamic behavior / CERES NA45 Collaboration
The Fourier harmonics, $v_2$ and $v_3$ of negative pions are measured at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$= 17.3 GeV around midrapidity by the CERES/NA45 experiment at the CERN SPS in 0--30% central PbAu collisions with a mean centrality of 5.5%. The analysis is performed in two centrality bins as a function of the transverse momentum $\mathrm{p_{\mathrm{T}}}$ from 0.05 GeV/$c$ to more than 2 GeV/$c$. [...]

UNITAR executive programme on science diplomacy: panel on "The CERN Model of peaceful worldwide research collaboration to address the global challenges" / Bruant Gulejova, Barbora ; Sharma, Archana ; Llewellyn Smith, Christopher Hubert ; Damjanovic, Sanja ; Barcons, Xavier
The CERN model of peaceful worldwide research collaboration has been presented to distinguished participants of the UNITAR Executive Summer Programme on Innovations in Science Diplomacy as a potential path towards addressing global challenges. Representatives of CERN and other international bodies based on its model re-opened the dialogue started in 2015 at the symposium “CERN Model – United Nations and Global Public Goods: Addressing Global Challenges,” highlighting the importance of neutrality, long-term vision, and good communication..

The South East European International Institute for Sustainable Technologies (SEEIIST) was proposed in 2016 at the World Academy of Art and Science, with the objective of building a facility for charged particle cancer therapy for the South Eastern European countries. SEEIIST will offer the world-class research needed to reduce or even revert the brain drain that is causing a shortage of talent and economic losses in South East Europe. [...]

Nuclear dependence of light neutral meson production in p-A collisions at 400 GeV with NA60 / NA60 collaboration
The NA60 experiment has studied low-mass muon pair production in proton-nucleus collisions with a system of Be, Cu, In, W, Pb and U targets, using a 400 GeV proton beam at the CERN SPS. The transverse momentum spectra of the $\rho/\omega$ and $\phi$ mesons are measured in the full $p_\mathrm{T}$ range accessible, from $p_\mathrm{T} = 0$ up to 2 GeV/$c$. [...]

The study of dilepton production in heavy-ion collisions at the CERN SPS provided some of the most interesting observations done so far in the search for the quark gluon plasma. However, several aspects of the understanding of these measurements need to be clarified. [...]

Transverse beam splitting made operational: Key features of the multiturn extraction at the CERN Proton Synchrotron / Huschauer, A (CERN) ; Blas, A (CERN) ; Borburgh, J (CERN) ; Damjanovic, S (CERN) ; Gilardoni, S (CERN) ; Giovannozzi, M (CERN) ; Hourican, M (CERN) ; Kahle, K (CERN) ; Le Godec, G (CERN) ; Michels, O (CERN) et al.
Following a successful commissioning period, the multiturn extraction (MTE) at the CERN Proton Synchrotron (PS) has been applied for the fixed-target physics programme at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) since September 2015. This exceptional extraction technique was proposed to replace the long-serving continuous transfer (CT) extraction, which has the drawback of inducing high activation in the ring. [...]

Considerable progress has been made in 2015 in the setting up of the multi-turn extraction (MTE) in the CERN Proton Synchrotron (PS). A key ingredient in this novel extraction technique is the beam splitting in transverse phase space. [...]
