Emittance growth studies due to Crab Cavity induced amplitude noise in the SPS / Fornara, Andrea (Manchester U. ; CERN) ; Trad, Georges (CERN) ; Sterbini, Guido (CERN) ; Bartosik, Hannes (CERN) ; Triantafyllou, Natalia (CERN) ; Baudrenghien, Philippe (CERN) ; Calaga, Rama (CERN) ; Appleby, Robert (Manchester U.) ; Kostoglou, Sofia (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN) et al.
In the context of the HL-LHC upgrade, RF Crab Cavities (CCs) are one of the key components to achieve the target integrated luminosity. Due to the increased bunch intensity, the collider will operate with a large crossing angle scheme to alleviate the long-range beam-beam effect. [...]

Energy deposition studies for the Upgrade II of LHCb at the CERN Large Hadron Collider / Ciccotelli, Alessia (CERN ; U. Manchester (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Appleby, Robert B. (U. Manchester (main) ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech.) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Buffet, Kevin (CERN) ; Butin, Francois (CERN) ; Corti, Gloria (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Garcia Alia, Ruben (CERN) ; Karacson, Matthias (CERN) ; Lerner, Giuseppe (CERN) et al.
The Upgrade II of the LHCb experiment is proposed to be installed during the CERN Long Shutdown 4, aiming to operate LHCb at 1.5x$10^{34}cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ that is 75 times its design luminosity and reaching an integrated luminosity of about $400 fb^{-1}$ by the end of the High Luminosity LHC era. This increase of the data sample at LHCb is an unprecedented opportunity for heavy flavour physics measurements. [...]

Energy deposition studies for the LHCb insertion region of the CERN Large Hadron Collider / Ciccotelli, Alessia (Manchester U. ; CERN) ; Appleby, Robert B (Manchester U.) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Bilko, Kacper (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Garcia Alia, Ruben (CERN) ; Lechner, Anton (CERN) ; Tsinganis, Andrea (CERN)
The LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty) experiment at CERN LHC aims at achieving a significantly higher luminosity than originally planned by means of two major upgrades: the Upgrade I that took place during the Long Shutdown 2 (LS2) and the Upgrade II proposed for LS4. Such an increase in instantaneous and integrated luminosity with respect to the design values requires to reassess the radiation exposure of LHC magnets, cryogenics, and electronic equipment placed in the insertion region 8 (IR8) around LHCb. Towards a Muon Collider / Accettura, Carlotta (CERN) ; Adams, Dean (Rutherford) ; Agarwal, Rohit (UC, Berkeley (main)) ; Ahdida, Claudia (CERN) ; Aimè, Chiara (Pavia U. ; INFN, Pavia) ; Amapane, Nicola (INFN, Turin ; Turin U.) ; Amorim, David (CERN) ; Andreetto, Paolo (INFN, Padua) ; Anulli, Fabio (INFN, Rome) ; Appleby, Robert (Manchester U.) et al.
A muon collider would enable the big jump ahead in energy reach that is needed for a fruitful exploration of fundamental interactions. The challenges of producing muon collisions at high luminosity and 10 TeV centre of mass energy are being investigated by the recently-formed International Muon Collider Collaboration. [...]

Performance Study of the NIMMS Superconducting Compact Synchrotron for Ion Therapy with Strongly Curved Magnets / Norman, Hannah (U. Manchester (main)) ; Appleby, Robert (U. Manchester (main)) ; Benedetto, Elena (U. Geneva (main)) ; Karppinen, Mikko (CERN) ; Owen, Hywel (Daresbury) ; Sheehy, Suzanne (Melbourne U.)
Delivery of heavy ion therapy currently utilises normal conducting synchrotrons. For the future generation of clini- cal facilities, the accelerator footprint must be reduced while adopting beam intensities above 1 × 10¹⁰ particles per spill for more efficient, effective treatment. [...]

Implications of the Upgrade II of LHCb on the LHC Insertion Region 8: From Energy Deposition Studies to Mitigation Strategies / Ciccotelli, Alessia (CERN ; U. Manchester (main)) ; Appleby, Robert B (U. Manchester (main)) ; Butin, Francois (CERN) ; Cerutti, Francesco (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Humann, Barbara (TU Vienna ; CERN) ; Wehrle, Maud (CERN)
Starting from LHC Run3, a first upgrade of the LHCb experiment (Upgrade I) will enable oeration with a significantly increased instantaneous luminosity in the LHC Insertion Region 8 (IR8), up to 2 $\cdot$ 10$^{33}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. Moreover, the proposed second upgrade of the LHCb experiment (Upgrade II) aims at increasing it by an extra factor 7.5 (up to 1.5 $\cdot$ 10$^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$, as of Run 5) and collecting an integrated luminosity of 400fb$^{-1}$ by the end of Run 6. Review of Technologies for Ion Therapy Accelerators / Norman, H X Q (Manchester U. ; RMIT U.) ; Appleby, Robert (Manchester U. ; Daresbury) ; Benedetto, Elena (IBM, Geneva) ; Owen, Hywel (Manchester U. ; RMIT U.) ; Sapinski, Mariusz (IBM, Geneva) ; Sheehy, Suzanne (Melbourne U.) ; Steinberg, A F (Manchester U. ; RMIT U.)
Cancer therapy using protons and heavier ions such as carbon has demonstrated advantages over other radiotherapy treatments. To bring about the next generation of clinical facilities, the requirements are likely to reduce the footprint, obtain beam intensities above 1E10 particles per spill, and achieve faster extraction for more rapid, flexible treatment. Considerations for a RF separated K+ beam for NA62 / Appleby, Robert Barrie (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Dainton, John Bourke (Lancaster University (GB)) ; Burt, Graeme Campbell (Lancaster University (GB)) ; Gatignon, Lau (Lancaster University (GB)) ; Goudzovski, Evgueni (University of Birmingham (GB)) ; Jones, Rhodri (CERN) ; Lazzeroni, Cristina (University of Birmingham (GB)) ; Romano, Angela (University of Birmingham (GB)) ; Giuseppe, Ruggiero (Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia) et al.
In this document we assess the potential of RF separation to increase the kaon content of the high-intensity secondary beam to the NA62 experiment in the CERN North Area. The present mixed beam provides a nominal kaon flux of 45 MHz out of a total beam intensity of about 750 MHz. [...]
