Phys. ; Mainz U.) ; Block, Michael (Darmstadt, GSI ; Mainz U. ; Helmholtz Inst., Mainz) ; Dorrer, Holger (Mainz U.) ; Düllmann, Christoph E (Darmstadt, GSI ; Mainz U. ; Helmholtz Inst., Mainz) ; Dzuba, Vladimir A (New South Wales U.) ; Ezold, Julie G (Oak Ridge) ; Flambaum, Victor V (New South Wales U.) et al.
We report on high-resolution laser spectroscopy studies on Cf249–253 with spectral linewidths in the order of 100 MHz carried out at the RISIKO mass separator at Mainz University. In total three atomic ground-state transitions were investigated and the hyperfine parameters for the odd-A isotopes and isotope shift for all examined isotopes have been determined from the measured spectra. Performance of the LHCb RICH photo-detectors and readout in a system test using charged particles from a 25 ns-structured beam
/ Adinolfi, M (Bristol U.) ; Albrecht, E (CERN) ; D’Ambrosio, C (CERN) ; Gys, T (CERN) ; Morant, J (CERN) ; Piedigrossi, D (CERN) ; Patel, M (CERN) ; Wyllie, K (CERN) ; Ameri, M (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) ; Fontanelli, F (INFN, Genoa ; Genoa U.) et al.
The LHCb experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) utilises two Ring Imaging CHerenkov (RICH) detectors for particle identification. To verify that the RICH assembly will perform as expected prior to installation, an array of 48 production Hybrid Photon Detectors and their readout have been tested under realistic running conditions in a 25 ns-structured charged particle beam provided by the SPS facility at CERN. The COMPASS Experiment at CERN
/ COMPASS Collaboration
The COMPASS experiment makes use of the CERN SPS high-intensitymuon and hadron beams for the investigation of the nucleon spin structure and the spectroscopy of hadrons. One or more outgoing particles are detected in coincidence with the incoming muon or hadron. [...]

First performances of COMPASS RICH-1
/ Albrecht, E ; Baum, G ; Bellunato, T F ; Birsa, R ; Bradamante, Franco ; Bressan, A ; Chapiro, A ; Cicuttin, A ; Colavita, A A ; Costa, S et al.
COMPASS RICH-1, designed in 1996 for hadron identification at high momenta in the COMPASS large angle spectrometer, is based on the use of MWPCs with large size CsI photon detectors. This choice, dictated by technical and economical considerations, has imposed VUV requirements for mirror reflectance and radiator transparency. [...]

Progress in high density projection chambers
/ Albrecht, E ; Cerutti, G ; Fischer, H G ; Flammier, M ; Innocenti, Pier Giorgio ; Legrand, J C ; Lillethun, E ; Mourgue, G ; Ullaland, O
The high density projection chamber (HPC) is a sampling calorimeter where shower conversion and detection is separated. It offers a simple and homogeneous large volume detector with an energy resolution of (10-11)%/ square root E, an inherent resolution transverse to the shower axis of 100 mu m and an exceptionally fine granularity along the shower.
