Analysis of empty ATLAS pilot jobs
/ Love, Peter (Lancaster University, Department of Physics) ; Alef, M. (KIT, Karlsruhe, SCC) ; Dal Pra, S. (INFN, CNAF) ; Di Girolamo, A. (CERN) ; Forti, A. (Manchester U.) ; Templon, J. (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Vamvakopoulos, E. (CC, Villeurbanne)
In this analysis we quantify the wallclock time used by short empty pilot jobs on a number of WLCG compute resources. [...]

Multicore job scheduling in the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid
/ Forti, A (Manchester U.) ; Yzquierdo, A P (PIC, Bellaterra ; Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Hartmann, T (KIT, Karlsruhe, SCC) ; Alef, M (KIT, Karlsruhe, SCC) ; Lahiff, A (Rutherford) ; Templon, J (NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Pra, S Dal (INFN, CNAF) ; Gila, M (Zurich, ETH-CSCS/SCSC) ; Skipsey, S (Glasgow U.) ; Acosta-Silva, C (PIC, Bellaterra ; Barcelona, IFAE) et al.
After the successful first run of the LHC, data taking is scheduled to restart in Summer 2015 with experimental conditions leading to increased data volumes and event complexity. In order to process the data generated in such scenario and exploit the multicore architectures of current CPUs, the LHC experiments have developed parallelized software for data reconstruction and simulation. Scalable proxy cache for Grid Data Access
/ Templon, Jeff (speaker) (NIKHEF (NL))
This contribution describes a prototype grid proxy cache system developed at Nikhef, motivated by a desire to construct the first
building block of a future https-based Content Delivery Network for multiple-VO grid infrastructures. Two goals drove the project:
firstly to provide a "native view" of the grid for desktop-type users, and secondly to improve performance for physics-analysis type use cases, where multiple passes are made over the same set of data (residing on the grid). [...]

The experiment dashboard for medical applications
/ Andreeva, Julia (CERN) ; Boulebiar, Kamel (Univ. Amsterdam) ; Saiz, Pablo (CERN) ; Sidorova, Irina (CERN) ; Templon, Jeff (NIKHEF) ; Cirstoiu, Catalin (CERN) ; Da Rocha, Ricardo (CERN) ; Gaidioz, Benjamin (CERN) ; Herrala, Juha (CERN) ; Kan, Andrevan (NIKHEF) et al.
The Experiment Dashboard is a monitoring system initially developed for the LHC experiments to provide the view of the Grid infrastructure from the perspective of the LHC virtual organization. The poster describes the first experience of the deployment and usage of the system outside the LHC community, for monitoring of medical applications on the Grid. [...]

Crunching real data on the Grid : practice and experience with the European DataGrid
/ Groep, D (NIKHEF, P.O. Box 41882, 1009 DB Amsterdam, The Netherlands) ; Templon, J (NIKHEF, P.O. Box 41882, 1009 DB Amsterdam, The Netherlands) ; Loomis, C (Laboratoire de l'Accélérator Linéaire (LAL), Université Paris-Sud, Bâtiment 200, 91898 Orsay Cedex, France)
The D0 experiment has used the European DataGrid (EDG) testbed to reprocess real data obtained from the Tevatron collider at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Pushing the use of the EDG software beyond feasibility studies has produced a set of recommendations for authors of experiment-level software, for producers of middleware and for designers of Grid systems.
