Status of head-on beam-beam compensation in RHIC
/ Fischer, W. (Brookhaven) ; Altinbas, Z. (Brookhaven) ; Anerella, M. (Brookhaven) ; Blaskiewicz, M. (Brookhaven) ; Bruno, D. (Brookhaven) ; Costanzo, M. (Brookhaven) ; Dawson, W.C. (Brookhaven) ; Gassner, D.M. (Brookhaven) ; Gu, X. (Brookhaven) ; Gupta, R.C. (Brookhaven) et al.
In polarized proton operation, the performance of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is limited by the head-on beam-beam effect. To overcome this limitation, two electron lenses are under commissioning. [...]

Ampere Average Current Photoinjector and Energy Recovery Linac
/ Ben-Zvi, Ilan ; Burrill, A ; Calaga, R ; Cameron, P ; Chang, X ; Gassner, D M ; Hahn, H ; Hershcovitch, A ; Hseuh, H C ; Johnson, P et al.
High-power Free-Electron Lasers were made possible by advances in superconducting linac operated in an energy-recovery mode, as demonstrated by the spectacular success of the Jefferson Laboratory IR-Demo. In order to get to much higher power levels, say a fraction of a megawatt average power, many technological barriers are yet to be broken. [...]

High Current Energy Recovery Linac at BNL
/ Litvinenko, Vladimir N ; Beavis, Dana ; Ben-Zvi, Ilan ; Blaskiewicz, Michael ; Bluem, Hans ; Brennan, Joseph M ; Burger, Al ; Burrill, Andrew ; Calaga, Rama ; Cameron, Peter et al.
We present the design and the parameters of a small Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) facility, which is under construction at BNL. This R&D; facility has goals to demonstrate CW operation of ERL with average beam current in the range of 0.1 - 1 ampere, combined with very high efficiency of energy recovery. [...]

Extremely High Current, High-Brightness Energy Recovery Linac
/ Ben-Zvi, Ilan ; Barton, Donald ; Beavis, Dana ; Blaskiewicz, Michael ; Bluem, Hans ; Brennan, Joseph M ; Burger, Al ; Burrill, Andrew ; Calaga, Rama ; Cameron, Peter et al.
Next generation ERL light-sources, high-energy electron coolers, high-power Free-Electron Lasers, powerful Compton X-ray sources and many other accelerators were made possible by the emerging technology of high-power, high-brightness electron beams. In order to get the anticipated performance level of ampere-class currents, many technological barriers are yet to be broken. [...]
