/ Atanasov, D (CERN) ; Cresto, F (LPC, Caen) ; Nies, L (CERN) ; Pomorski, M (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Versteegen, M (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Alfaurt, P (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Araujo-Escalona, V (Leuven U.) ; Ascher, P (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Blank, B (LP2I, Bordeaux) ; Daudin, L (LP2I, Bordeaux) et al.
The article describes the commissioning and technical development of the Weak Interaction Studies with 32Ar Decay (WISArD) experiment, installed at the radioactive ion-beam facility ISOLDE/CERN. The experiment aims to extend the present limits on scalar and tensor currents in the weak interaction and hence search for physics beyond the Standard Model. [...]

Simultaneous measurements of the $\beta$ -neutrino angular correlation in $^{32}$Ar pure Fermi and pure Gamow-Teller transitions using $\beta$ -proton coincidences

We report first time measurements of the beta-neutrino angular correlation based on the kinetic energy shift of protons emitted in parallel or anti-parallel directions with respect to the positron in the beta decay of $^{32}$Ar. This proof of principle experiment provided simultaneous measurements for the superallowed 0$^+$~$\rightarrow$~0$^+$ transition followed by a 3356~keV proton emission and for a Gamow-Teller transition followed by a 2123~keV proton emission. Scalar current limit from the beta-neutrino correlation: the WISArD experiment
/ Araujo-Escalona, V (Leuven U.) ; Alfaurt, P (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Ascher, P (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Atanasov, D (Leuven U. ; CERN) ; Blank, B (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Daudin, L (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Fléchard, X (Caen U.) ; Gerbaux, M (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Giovinazzo, J (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Grévy, S (CENBG, Gradignan) et al.
Beta - neutrino correlation measurements are key in the research of physics beyond the Standard Model. In pure Fermi beta transitions, the beta-neutrino correlation coefficient, a βν, is sensitive to the presence of scalar currents. [...]

In-gas laser ionization and spectroscopy of actinium isotopes near the $N=126$ closed shell
/ Granados, C (Leuven U.) ; Creemers, P (Leuven U.) ; Ferrer, R (Leuven U.) ; Gaffney, L P (Leuven U.) ; Gins, W (Leuven U.) ; de Groote, R (Leuven U.) ; Huyse, M (Leuven U.) ; Kudryavtsev, Yu (Leuven U.) ; Martinez, Y (Leuven U.) ; Raeder, S (Leuven U.) et al.
The in-gas laser ionization and spectroscopy (IGLIS) technique was applied on the Ac212–215 isotopes, produced at the Leuven Isotope Separator On-Line (LISOL) facility by using the in-gas-cell and the in-gas-jet methods. The first application under on-line conditions of the in-gas-jet laser spectroscopy method showed a superior performance in terms of selectivity, spectral resolution, and efficiency in comparison with the in-gas-cell method. Resonant laser ionization and spectroscopy are widely used techniques at radioactive ion
beam facilities to produce pure beams of exotic nuclei and measure the shape, size, spin and
electromagnetic multipole moments of these nuclei. However, in such measurements it is
difficult to combine a high efficiency with a high spectral resolution. [...]

First high-statistics and high-resolution recoil-ion data from the WITCH retardation spectrometer
/ Finlay, P (Leuven U.) ; Breitenfeldt, M (Leuven U.) ; Porobić, T (Leuven U.) ; Wursten, E (Leuven U.) ; Ban, G (Caen U.) ; Beck, M (Munster U.) ; Couratin, C (Leuven U.) ; Fabian, X (Caen U.) ; Fléchard, X (Caen U.) ; Friedag, P (Munster U.) et al.
The first high-statistics and high-resolution data set for the integrated recoil-ion energy spectrum following the $ \beta^+$ decay of$^{35}$Ar has been collected with the WITCH retardation spectrometer located at CERN-ISOLDE. Over 25 million recoil-ion events were recorded on a large-area multichannel plate (MCP) detector with a time-stamp precision of 2ns and position resolution of 0.1mm due to the newly upgraded data acquisition based on the LPC Caen FASTER protocol. Developments towards in-gas-jet laser spectroscopy studies of actinium isotopes at LISOL
/ Raeder, S (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Bastin, B (GANIL) ; Block, M (Helmholtz-Institut Mainz) ; Creemers, P (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Delahaye, P (GANIL) ; Ferrer, R (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Fléchard, X (Caen U.) ; Franchoo, S (Orsay, IPN) ; Ghys, L (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Gaffney, L P (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) et al.
To study exotic nuclides at the borders of stability with laser ionization and spectroscopy techniques, highest efficiencies in combination with a high spectral resolution are required. These usually opposing requirements are reconciled by applying the in-gas-laser ionization and spectroscopy (IGLIS) technique in the supersonic gas jet produced by a de Laval nozzle installed at the exit of the stopping gas cell.
