Heavy ion beam characterization for radiation effects testing at CERN using Monte Carlo simulations and experimental benchmarking / Waets, A (CERN) ; Bilko, K (CERN) ; Brethoux, D (CERN) ; Cerutti, F (CERN) ; Charitonidis, N (CERN) ; Delrieux, M (CERN) ; Esposito, L (CERN) ; Durrafourg, M (CERN) ; Fraser, M (CERN) ; Garcia Alia, R (CERN) et al.
The CHIMERA (up to December 2022) and HEARTS (as of January 2023) projects aim to facilitate radiation effects testing of electronics components using heavy ion beams before deployment in harsh radiation environments such as space or high energy accelerators. The required (micro-) electronics reliability assurance testing conditions can be met by using 100 MeV/n - 5 GeV/n Pb ion beams extracted from CERN’s Proton Synchrotron (PS) which have a surface Linear Energy Transfer (LET) range of 10-40 MeV cm2/mg, >1 mm penetration depth in silicon and several cm FWHM beam size. The new CERN East Area primary and secondary beams / Montbarbon, Eva (CERN) ; Banerjee, Dipanwita (CERN) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Brethoux, Damien (CERN) ; Brugger, Markus (CERN) ; Carlsen, Bard (CERN) ; Charitonidis, Nikolaos (CERN) ; Ebn Rahmoun, Aboubakr (CERN) ; Evrard, Sebastien (CERN) ; Gatignon, Laurent (CERN) et al. /CERN East Area Renovation project team
The East Area at the Proton Synchrotron is one of the intensely used facilities at CERN, serving for over 56 years beams nowadays to more than 20 user teams and experiments for about 200 days of running each year. Besides primary proton and ion beams for the irradiation facilities IRRAD and CHARM, mixed secondary beams of hadrons, electrons and muons within a range of 0.5 GeV/c to 12 GeV/c are provided. [...]

Design & optimization of the alignment supports for the new laminated magnets for the CERN East Area consolidation project / Vanhoutte, Robin (CERN) ; Brethoux, Damien (CERN) ; Ebn Rahmoun, Aboubakr (CERN) ; Evrard, Sebastien (CERN) ; Harden, Fiona (CERN) ; Harrouch, Erwan (CERN) ; Lazzaroni, Michael (CERN) ; Lino Diogo dos Santos, Miguel (CERN) ; Lopez, Roberto (CERN) ; Nogtikov, Denis (CERN) et al.
The East Area is one of CERNs experimental area, running since its foundation in 1958. Extracting a 24GeV proton beam from the Proton Synchrotron accelerator, the primary beam is divided into different secondary beams, serving various experiments and user’s facilities such as CLOUD, CHARM, IRRAD. The East Area at the Proton Synchrotron is one of CERN’s longest running facilities for experiments, beam tests, and irradiations with a successful history of over 55 years. The facility serves more than 20 user teams for about 200 days of running each year and offers mixed secondary hadron, electron and muon beams of 0.5 GeV/c to 10 GeV/c. [...]

Optimising Machine-Experiment Interventions in HL-LHC / Sanchez Galan, Francisco (CERN) ; Adorisio, Cristina (CERN) ; Bergstrom, Ida (CERN) ; Brethoux, Damien (CERN) ; Evrard, Sebastien (CERN) ; Gaddi, Andrea (CERN) ; Krzkempek, Lukasz (CERN) ; Lazzaroni, Michael (CERN) ; Perez Espinos, Jaime (CERN) ; Raymond, Michel (CERN) et al.
The luminosity reach of the HL-LHC experiments implies new constraints for the protection of the inner triplets from the machine debris. In general activation levels will increase a factor of 15-30 from the 2015 values (LS1), affecting both radiation tolerance of equipment and maintenance scenarios. [...]
