Electroweak Measurements in Electron-Positron Collisions at W-Boson-Pair Energies at LEP / ALEPH Collaboration
Electroweak measurements performed with data taken at the electron-positron collider LEP at CERN from 1995 to 2000 are reported. The combined data set considered in this report corresponds to a total luminosity of about 3~fb$^{-1}$ collected by the four LEP experiments ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, at centre-of-mass energies ranging from $130~GeV$ to $209~GeV$ [...]

Measurement of the quark to photon fragmentation function through the inclusive production of prompt photons in hadronic $Z^0$ decays / OPAL Collaboration
The inclusive production of prompt photons with energy above 10 GeV is measured using the OPAL detector in hadronic Z^0 decays at LEP. In contrast to previous measurements, the prompt photons were not required to be isolated. [...]

Precision electroweak measurements on the $Z$ resonance / ALEPH Collaboration
We report on the final electroweak measurements performed with data taken at the Z resonance by the experiments operating at the electron-positron colliders SLC and LEP. The data consist of 17 million Z decays accumulated by the ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL experiments at LEP, and 600 thousand Z decays by the SLD experiment using a polarised beam at SLC. [...]

Prospects on electroweak physics from the LHC / Vikas, P (CERN)
The abundant production of gauge bosons, gauge boson pairs and top quarks at the LHC will offer the opportunity for comprehensive and challenging tests of theoretical predictions in the electroweak sector. Some issues which influence these measurements followed by prospects on some possible measurements by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), at CERN are discussed..

Electron Reconstruction in the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter / Meschi, Emilio (CERN) ; Monteiro, T (CERN) ; Seez, Christopher (Imperial College, London, UK and CERN) ; Vikas, Pratibha (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA)
This note describes the reconstruction of electrons using the electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) alone. This represents the first step in the High Level Trigger reconstruction and selection chain. [...]

The CERN LHC experiment CMS has selected for the readout of the barrel crystal calorimeter a 5*5 mm/sup 2/ avalanche photodiode (APD) manufactured by Hamamatsu Photonics. In the detector we will equip each crystal with two APDs for a total of 122400 diodes. [...]

Avalanche photodiodes(APD's) will be used as photodetectors in the CMS barrel electromagnetic crystal calorimeter for high precision energy measurements in a hostile radiation environment. Significant progress has been made in the characteristics of these devices being expressly developed for CMS. [...]
