No-go limitations on UV completions of the Neutrino Option / Brivio, Ilaria (U. Heidelberg, ITP) ; Talbert, Jim (Bohr Inst.) ; Trott, Michael (Bohr Inst. ; CERN)
We discuss the possible origin of the Majorana mass scale(s) required for the "Neutrino Option" where the electroweak scale is generated simultaneously with light neutrino masses in a type-I seesaw model, by common dimension four interactions. We establish no-go constraints on the perturbative generation of the Majorana masses required due to global symmetries of the seesaw Lagrangian..

One loop verification of SMEFT Ward Identities / Corbett, Tyler (Bohr Inst.) ; Trott, Michael (Bohr Inst. ; CERN)
We verify Standard Model Effective Field Theory Ward identities to one loop order when background field gauge is used to quantize the theory. The results we present lay the foundation of next to leading order automatic generation of results in the SMEFT, in both the perturbative and non-perturbative expansion using the geoSMEFT formalism, and background field gauge..

Incorporating doubly resonant W± data in a global fit of SMEFT parameters to lift flat directions / Berthier, Laure (Bohr Inst.) ; Bjørn, Mikkel (Bohr Inst.) ; Trott, Michael (Bohr Inst. ; CERN)
We calculate the double pole contribution to two to four fermion scattering through W± currents at tree level in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). We assume all fermions to be massless, U(3)5 flavour and CP symmetry. [...]

On the consistent use of Constructed Observables / Trott, Michael (CERN ; Copenhagen U.)
We define "constructed observables" as relating experimental measurements to terms in a Lagrangian while simultaneously making assumptions about possible deviations from the Standard Model (SM), in other Lagrangian terms. Ensuring that the SM effective field theory (EFT) is constrained correctly when using constructed observables requires that their defining conditions are imposed on the EFT in a manner that is consistent with the equations of motion. On the Predictiveness of Single-Field Inflationary Models / Burgess, C.P. (McMaster U. ; Perimeter Inst. Theor. Phys.) ; Patil, Subodh P. (CERN) ; Trott, Michael (CERN)
We re-examine the predictiveness of single-field inflationary models and discuss how an unknown UV completion can complicate determining inflationary model parameters from observations, even from precision measurements. Besides the usual naturalness issues associated with having a shallow inflationary potential, we describe another issue for inflation, namely, unknown UV physics modifies the running of Standard Model (SM) parameters and thereby introduces uncertainty into the potential inflationary predictions. Renormalization Group Evolution of the Standard Model Dimension Six Operators III: Gauge Coupling Dependence and Phenomenology / Alonso, Rodrigo (UC, San Diego) ; Jenkins, Elizabeth E. (UC, San Diego) ; Manohar, Aneesh V. (UC, San Diego) ; Trott, Michael (CERN)
We calculate the gauge terms of the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix for the dimension-six operators of the Standard Model effective field theory (SM EFT). Combining these results with our previous results for the λ and Yukawa coupling terms completes the calculation of the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix for the dimension-six operators. [...]

Renormalization Group Evolution of the Standard Model Dimension Six Operators II: Yukawa Dependence / Jenkins, Elizabeth E. (UC, San Diego) ; Manohar, Aneesh V. (UC, San Diego) ; Trott, Michael (CERN)
We calculate the complete order y^2 and y^4 terms of the 59 x 59 one-loop anomalous dimension matrix for the dimension-six operators of the Standard Model effective field theory, where y is a generic Yukawa coupling. These terms, together with the terms of order lambda, lambda^2 and lambda y^2 depending on the Standard Model Higgs self-coupling lambda which were calculated in a previous work, yield the complete one-loop anomalous dimension matrix in the limit of vanishing gauge couplings. Naive Dimensional Analysis Counting of Gauge Theory Amplitudes and Anomalous Dimensions / Jenkins, Elizabeth E. (UC, San Diego) ; Manohar, Aneesh V. (UC, San Diego) ; Trott, Michael (CERN)
We show that naive dimensional analysis (NDA) is equivalent to the result that L-loop scattering amplitudes have perturbative order N=L+Delta, with a shift Delta that depends on the NDA-weight of operator insertions. The NDA weight of an operator is defined in this paper, and the general NDA formula for perturbative order N is derived. [...]

Renormalization Group Evolution of the Standard Model Dimension Six Operators I: Formalism and lambda Dependence / Jenkins, Elizabeth E. (UC, San Diego) ; Manohar, Aneesh V. (UC, San Diego) ; Trott, Michael (CERN)
We calculate the order \lambda, \lambda^2 and \lambda y^2 terms of the 59 x 59 one-loop anomalous dimension matrix of dimension-six operators, where \lambda and y are the Standard Model Higgs self-coupling and a generic Yukawa coupling, respectively. The dimension-six operators modify the running of the Standard Model parameters themselves, and we compute the complete one-loop result for this. [...]
