First Result from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer on the International Space Station: Precision Measurement of the Positron Fraction in Primary Cosmic Rays of 0.5–350 GeV / AMS Collaboration
A precision measurement by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer on the International Space Station of the positron fraction in primary cosmic rays in the energy range from 0.5 to 350 GeV based on 6.8×106 positron and electron events is presented. The very accurate data show that the positron fraction is steadily increasing from 10 to ∼250  GeV, but, from 20 to 250 GeV, the slope decreases by an order of magnitude. [...]

During the LHC Long Shutdown 2 (LS2), the H⁻ LINAC4 replaced the proton LINAC2 as Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) injector. In each of the four PSB rings, the injection region was upgraded to accommodate the necessary elements for a proper H⁻ charge exchange injection systems. [...]

The LHC injectors Upgrade (LIU) program has been fully implemented during the second long shutdown (LS2), which took place in 2019-20. In this context, new or upgraded beam instrumentation was developed to cope with H⁻ beam in LINAC4 and the new Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) injection systems which would provide high brightness proton beams in the rest of the injector complex. The ISOLDE radioactive ion beam separator facility at CERN produces beams of short-lived isotopes for experiments in physics, material and medical science. New requirements for more precise measurement of profile, position and intensity has pushed the CERN beam instrumentation group to start the study of a new generation of ISOLDE beam instrumentation dedicated to the specific needs of this facility. A new generation of beam wire scanner (BWS), for transversal beam profile monitoring, is under development on the framework of the LHC Injector Upgrade project at CERN. Two pre-series prototypes have been built and installed in the Super Proton Synchrotron and Proton Synchrotron Booster, to assess the performance of the upgraded BWS concept. [...]

A new generation of fast wire scanners is being developed for the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project at CERN. These will be essential tools for transverse profile measurement with the higher brightness LIU beams, and are planned for installation in 2019 in all three synchrotrons making up the LHC injector chain.
