Spectral synthesis of multimode lasers to the Fourier limit in integrated Fabry–Perot diamond resonators / Granados, Eduardo (CERN) ; Granados, Camilo ; Ahmed, Rizwan (CERN) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.)
Fourier-limited nanosecond pulses featuring narrow spectral bandwidths are required for applications in spectroscopy, sensing, and quantum optics. Here, we demonstrate a direct and simple route for the generation of single-frequency light relying on phonon-resonant Raman interactions within a monolithic diamond resonator. [...]

Enabling the use of Raman lasers for spectroscopy: continuous tunability, narrow linewidth and efficient cascading in diamond / Echarri, Daniel T (CERN ; Navarra U.) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Olaizola, Santiago M (Navarra U.) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
We demonstrate a Raman laser continuously tunable in the visible range, capable of performing element-selective photo-ionization. The Stokes outputs exhibited a linewidth of 11.0 ± 1.0 GHz with a conversion efficiency of more than 60%..

Broadly tunable linewidth-invariant Raman Stokes comb for selective resonance photoionization / Echarri, Daniel T ; Echarri, Daniel T (CERN ; Navarra U.) ; Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Olaizola, Santiago M (Navarra U. ; Donostia Intl. Phys. Ctr., San Sebastian) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
We demonstrate a continuously tunable, multi-Stokes Raman laser operating in the visible range (420 - 600 nm). Full spectral coverage was achieved by efficiently cascading the Raman shifted output of a tunable, frequency-doubled Ti:Sapphire laser. [...]

Continuously tunable diamond Raman laser for resonance laser ionization / Chrysalidis, Katerina (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Fedosseev, Valentin N (CERN) ; Marsh, Bruce A (CERN) ; Mildren, Richard P (Macquarie U.) ; Spence, David J (Macquarie U.) ; Wendt, Klaus D A (Mainz U.) ; Wilkins, Shane G (CERN) ; Granados, Eduardo (CERN)
We demonstrate a highly efficient, tunable, ∼5 GHz line- width diamond Raman laser operating at 479 nm. The diamond laser was pumped by a wavelength-tunable intra- cavity frequency-doubled titanium sapphire (Ti:Sapphire) laser operating at around 450 nm, at a repetition rate of 10 kHz with a pulse duration of 50 ns. Laser Guiding of a 100 TW Laser Beam in a Capillary Discharge Waveguide / Nagler, Bob ; Cowan, Thomas ; Esarey, Eric ; Filip, Catalin ; Geddes, Cameron G R ; Gonsalves, Anthony J ; Hooker, Simon ; Leemans, Wim ; Spence, D ; Toth, Csaba
Experiments are underway at LBNL on guiding high peak power (up to 100 TW), ultra-short (<50 fs) laser pulses using a preformed plasma channel created by an electrical discharge in a capillary. The laser beam is produced by the multi-beam l'OASIS Ti:sapphire laser system and is focused onto the entrance of the capillary using a 2 meter focal length off-axis parabola. [...]

Experimental Progress on a 1 GeV Laser Accelerator at LBNL / Leemans, Wim ; Cowan, Thomas ; Esarey, Eric ; Filip, Catalin ; Geddes, Cameron G R ; Gonsalves, Anthony J ; Hooker, Simon ; Michel, Estelle ; Michel, Pierre ; Nagler, Bob et al.
Experimental progress towards the realization of a 1 GeV laser-driven plasma-based accelerator at the L’OASIS facility of LBNL will be discussed. The design of the 1 GeV accelerator module consists of two components: (1) an all-optical electron injector and (2) a plasma channel for laser guiding and electron acceleration to high energy via the laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) mechanism [...]
