A Roadmap for HEP Software and Computing R&D for the 2020s / HEP Software Foundation Collaboration
Particle physics has an ambitious and broad experimental programme for the coming decades. This programme requires large investments in detector hardware, either to build new facilities and experiments, or to upgrade existing ones. [...]

Architectures and methodologies for future deployment of multi-site Zettabyte-Exascale data handling platforms / Acín, V (Barcelona, IFAE ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; Bird, I (CERN) ; Boccali, T (INFN, Italy ; INFN, Pisa) ; Cancio, G (CERN) ; Collier, I P (Rutherford) ; Corney, D (Rutherford) ; Delaunay, B (CNRS, France ; CC, Villeurbanne) ; Delfino, M (Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; footnote (Correspondence) to be removed ; PIC, Bellaterra) ; dell'Agnello, L (INFN, Italy ; INFN, CNAF) ; Flix, J (Madrid, CIEMAT ; PIC, Bellaterra) et al.
Several scientific fields, including Astrophysics, Astroparticle Physics, Cosmology, Nuclear and Particle Physics, and Research with Photons, are estimating that by the 2020 decade they will require data handling systems with data volumes approaching the Zettabyte distributed amongst as many as 10(18) individually addressable data objects (Zettabyte-Exascale systems). It may be convenient or necessary to deploy such systems using multiple physical sites [...]

A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. [...]

Observation of a new boson at a mass of 125 GeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC / CMS Collaboration
Results are presented from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 and 8 TeV in the CMS experiment at the LHC, using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 5.1 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 5.3 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. The search is performed in five decay modes: $\gamma\gamma$, ZZ, WW, $\tau^+ \tau^-$, and $b\bar{b}$. [...]
