Emission $^{57}$Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy (eMS), following the implantation of radioactive $^{57}$Mn+ ions, has been used to study the temperature dependence of the hyperfine magnetic field at Fe sites in Ba-doped BiFeO$_3$ (BFO) thin films. $^{57}$Mn β decays (t$_{1/2}$ = 90 s) to the 14.4 keV Mössbauer state of $^{57}$Fe, thus allowing online eMS measurements at a selection of sample temperatures during Mn implantation. Inst.) ; Schell, Juliana (CERN ; Duisburg-Essen U.) ; Dang, Thien Thanh (Duisburg-Essen U.) ; Noll, Cornelia (Bonn U., HISKP) ; Beck, Reinhard (Bonn U., HISKP) ; Köster, Ulli (Laue-Langevin Inst.) ; Mansano, Ronaldo (Sao Paulo U.) ; Hofsäss, Hans Christian (Gottingen U., II. Phys. Inst.)
In this work, we report on the hyperfine parameters of the foreign 181Ta probe in the rutile structure of the single crystal TiO2 using the e−γ and γ−γ time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) technique. We implanted 181Hf ions into a sample of single crystal rutile TiO2 in the Bonn Isotope Separator. [...]

The electric-field gradient (EFG) at nuclei in solids is a sensitive probe of the charge distribution. Experimental data, which previously only existed in insulators, have been available for metals with the development of nuclear measuring techniques since about 1970. [...]

The Local Exploration of Magnetic Field Effects in Semiconductors
/ Dang, Thien Thanh (Duisburg-Essen U.) ; Schell, Juliana (Duisburg-Essen U. ; CERN) ; Beck, Reinhard (Bonn U.) ; Noll, Cornelia (Bonn U.) ; Lupascu, Doru C (Duisburg-Essen U.)
This study reports on the local exploration of magnetic field effects in semiconductors, including silicon (Si), germanium (Ge), gallium arsenide (GaAs), and indium phosphide (InP) using the time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) technique. TDPAC measurements were carried out under external magnetic fields with strengths of 0.48 T and 2.1 T at room temperature, and 77 K following the implantation of 111In (111Cd) probes. [...]

Strong magnetoelectric coupling at an atomic nonmagnetic electromagnetic probe in bismuth ferrite

Isolated nonmagnetic substitutional defect ions experience huge coupled electric magnetic interaction in the single-phase multiferroic BiFeO$_{3}$. In the ferroelectric state above the magnetic Néel temperature $T$$_{N}$, the electric environment generates a single symmetric electric field gradient (EFG) parallel to the electric polarization direction.
