Gravitational Waves from High Temperature Strings / Frey, Andrew R. (Winnipeg U.) ; Mahanta, Ratul (Winnipeg U.) ; Maharana, Anshuman (Harish-Chandra Res. Inst.) ; Quevedo, Fernando (Cambridge U., DAMTP ; CERN ; New York U., Abu Dhabi) ; Villa, Gonzalo (Cambridge U., DAMTP)
We study finite temperature effects in string cosmology and their potential gravitational wave signature. Expanding on our recent work arXiv:2310.11494 , we consider a general configuration of highly excited open and closed strings at high enough temperature to be in the Hagedorn phase in 3+1 dimensions, in order to explore its cosmological implications. Up and Down Quark Structure of the Proton / D0 Collaboration
We measure proton structure parameters sensitive primarily to valence quarks using 8.6 fb1 of data collected by the D0 detector in s=1.96 TeV pˉp collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We exploit the property of the forward-backward asymmetry in dilepton events to be factorized in to distinct structure parameters and electroweak quark-level asymmetries. [...]

Study of nonstandard interactions mediated by a scalar field at the ESSnuSB experiment / ESSnuSB Collaboration
In this paper we study non-standard interactions mediated by a scalar field (SNSI) in the context of ESSnuSB experiment. In particular we study the capability of ESSnuSB to put bounds on the SNSI parameters and also study the impact of SNSI in the measurement of the leptonic CP phase δCP. [...]

Measurement of (anti)nuclei production in p-Pb collisions at sNN=8.16 TeV / ALICE Collaboration
Measurements of (anti)proton, (anti)deuteron, and (anti)3He production in the rapidity range 1<y<0 as a function of the transverse momentum and event multiplicity in p-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair sNN=8.16 TeV are presented. The coalescence parameters B2 and B3, measured as a function of the transverse momentum per nucleon and of the mean charged-particle multiplicity density, confirm a smooth evolution from low to high multiplicity across different collision systems and energies. [...]

Measurement of the lifetime and Λ separation energy of 3ΛH / ALICE Collaboration
The most precise measurements to date of the 3ΛH lifetime τ and Λ separation energy BΛ are obtained using the data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at sNN= 5.02 TeV collected by ALICE at the LHC. The 3ΛH is reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel (3ΛH 3He + π and the charge-conjugate process). [...]

Neutron emission in ultraperipheral Pb-Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV / ALICE Collaboration
In ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) of relativistic nuclei without overlap of nuclear densities, the two nuclei are excited by the Lorentz-contracted Coulomb fields of their collision partners. In these UPCs, the typical nuclear excitation energy is below a few tens of MeV, and a small number of nucleons are emitted in electromagnetic dissociation (EMD) of primary nuclei, in contrast to complete nuclear fragmentation in hadronic interactions. [...]

Performance of the ALICE Electromagnetic Calorimeter / ALICE Collaboration
The performance of the electromagnetic calorimeter of the ALICE experiment during operation in 20102018 at the Large Hadron Collider is presented. After a short introduction into the design, readout, and trigger capabilities of the detector, the procedures for data taking, reconstruction, and validation are explained. [...]

Multiplicity dependence of Υ production at forward rapidity in pp collisions at s = 13 TeV / ALICE Collaboration
The measurement of Υ(1S), Υ(2S), and Υ(3S) yields as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity density dNch/dη, using the ALICE experiment at the LHC, is reported in pp collisions at s = 13 TeV. The Υ meson yields are measured at forward rapidity (2.5<y<4) in the dimuon decay channel, whereas the charged-particle multiplicity is defined at central rapidity (|η|<1). [...]

Understanding the role of parton mass and Casimir colour factors in the quantum chromodynamics parton shower represents an important step in characterising the emission properties of heavy quarks. Recent experimental advances in jet substructure techniques have provided the opportunity to isolate and characterise gluon emissions from heavy quarks. [...]
