Thickness effect on superconducting properties of niobium films for radio-frequency cavity applications / Bianchi, Antonio (INFN, Milan) ; Bonura, Marco (U. Geneva (main)) ; Carlos, Carlota P.A. (U. Geneva (main) ; CERN) ; Leith, Stewart (CERN) ; Rosaz, Guillaume (CERN) ; Senatore, Carmine (U. Geneva (main)) ; Venturini Delsolaro, Walter (CERN)
Niobium-coated copper radio-frequency cavities are cost-effective alternatives to bulk niobium cavities, given the lower material costs of copper substrates and their operation in liquid helium at around 4.2 K. However, these cavities historically exhibited a gradual degradation in performance with the accelerating field. [...]

Temperature measurement on copper surfaces for superconducting thin film cavity applications / Bianchi, Antonio (CERN) ; Vandoni, Giovanna (CERN) ; Venturini Delsolaro, Walter (CERN)
Superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) thin film cavities on copper substrates are employed in several particle accelerators. However, these SRF cavities historically featured a progressive performance degradation with the accelerating field that is still not completely understood. [...]

Since a few years a joint collaboration between ALICE, ATLAS, CMS, LHCb/SHiP and CERN EP-DT groups is in place with the goal to study the performance of RPCs operated with eco-friendly gas mixtures under different irradiation conditions at GIF++. The performance of several chambers with different layout and electronics has been studied during dedicated beam tests, with and without gamma irradiation at GIF++. The RPCs have been operated with different gas mixtures based on $\rm{CO_{2}}$ and HFO1234ze gases. [...]

Temperature Mapping on a Niobium-Coated Copper Superconducting Radio-Frequency Cavity / Bianchi, Antonio (CERN) ; Venturini Delsolaro, Walter (CERN)
Since the late '80s, CERN has pioneered the development of niobium thin film radio-frequency (RF) cavities deposited on copper substrates for several particle accelerator applications. However, niobium thin film cavities historically feature a progressive performance degradation as the accelerating field increases. [...]

MATOQ: a Monte Carlo Simulation of Electron Transport in Environmental-friendly Gas Mixtures for Resistive Plate Chambers / Bianchi, Antonio (CERN)
The increasing interest in environmentally friendly gas mixtures for gaseous particle detectors, especially tetrafluoropropene-based gas mixtures for Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs), has prompted the need for simulating electron transport coefficients and reaction rates in these mixtures in recent years. MATOQ is a Monte Carlo simulation program that calculates electron transport parameters, specifically designed for studying and optimizing environmental-friendly gas mixtures for RPCs. [...]

Progress and R/D challenges for FCC-ee SRF / Venturini Delsolaro, W (CERN) ; Garlasche, M (CERN) ; Peauger, F (CERN) ; Rosaz, G (CERN) ; Karpov, I (CERN) ; Zhang, L (Beijing, Inst. High Energy Phys.) ; Valente Feliciano, A M (Jefferson Lab) ; Udongwo, S A (Rostock U.) ; Bianchi, A (CERN) ; Bellini, G (CERN) et al.
The FCC-ee machines present a huge challenge for the RF systems, which need to be adapted to very diverse beam conditions going from moderate energy and high current for the Z machine to high energy and low beam current for the ttbar. This inverse scaling results naturally from a fixed budget for the synchrotron radiation, which the SRF cavities need to compensate. [...]

Thermal Mapping Studies on Nb/Su SRF Cavities / Bianchi, Antonio (CERN) ; Chiodini, Marco (CERN) ; Vandoni, Giovanna (CERN) ; Venturini Delsolaro, Walter (CERN)
A thermal mapping system is one of the most useful diagnostic tools to identify the mechanisms responsible of performance degradation in superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities. Unlike most of the thermal mapping systems currently in operation, we want to develop a system for mapping copper coated SRF cavities. [...]
