Quantized Coulomb Branches, Monopole Bubbling and Wall-Crossing Phenomena in 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ Theories / Assel, Benjamin (CERN) ; Cremonesi, Stefano (Durham U., Dept. of Math.) ; Renwick, Matthew (Durham U., Dept. of Math.)
To study the quantized Coulomb branch of 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ unitary SQCD theories, we propose a new method to compute correlators of monopole and Casimir operators that are inserted in the $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^2_\epsilon$ Omega background. This method combines results from supersymmetric localization with inputs from the brane realisation of the correlators in type IIB string theory. [...]

On Monopole Bubbling Contributions to 't Hooft Loops / Assel, Benjamin (CERN) ; Sciarappa, Antonio (Korea Inst. Advanced Study, Seoul)
Monopole bubbling contributions to supersymmetric 't Hooft loops in 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ theories are computed by SQM indices. As recently argued, those indices are hard to compute due to the presence of Coulomb vacua that are not captured by standard localization techniques. [...]

Note on Monopole Operators in Chern-Simons-Matter Theories / Assel, Benjamin (CERN)
Monopole operators in Chern-Simons theories with charged matter have been studied using the state-operator map in CFTs, as states on $\mathbb{R}\times S^2$ with background magnetic flux on $S^2$. Gauge invariance requires a dressing with matter modes which provides non-zero spin to the monopoles. [...]

Wilson loops in 5d $\mathcal{N}=1$ theories and S-duality / Assel, Benjamin (CERN) ; Sciarappa, Antonio (Korea Inst. Advanced Study, Seoul)
We study the action of S-duality on half-BPS Wilson loop operators in 5d $\mathcal{N}=1$ theories. The duality is the statement that different massive deformations of a single 5d SCFT are described by different gauge theories, or equivalently that the SCFT points in parameter space of two gauge theories coincide. [...]

Holographic duals of 3d S-fold CFTs / Assel, Benjamin (CERN) ; Tomasiello, Alessandro (Milan Bicocca U. ; INFN, Milan Bicocca)
We construct non-geometric AdS$_4$ solutions of IIB string theory where the fields in overlapping patches are glued by elements of the S-duality group. We obtain them by suitable quotients of compact and non-compact geometric solutions. [...]

The Infrared Fixed Points of 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ $USp(2N)$ SQCD Theories / Assel, Benjamin (CERN) ; Cremonesi, Stefano (Durham U., Dept. of Math.)
We derive the algebraic description of the Coulomb branch of 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ $USp(2N)$ SQCD theories with $N_f$ fundamental hypermultiplets and determine their low energy physics in any vacuum from the local geometry of the moduli space, identifying the interacting SCFTs which arise at singularities and possible extra free sectors. The SCFT with the largest moduli space arises at the most singular locus on the Coulomb branch. [...]

The Infrared Physics of Bad Theories / Assel, Benjamin (CERN) ; Cremonesi, Stefano (Durham U., Dept. of Math.)
We study the complete moduli space of vacua of 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ $U(N)$ SQCD theories with $N_f$ fundamentals, building on the algebraic description of the Coulomb branch, and deduce the low energy physics in any vacuum from the local geometry of the moduli space. We confirm previous claims for good and ugly SQCD theories, and show that bad theories flow to the same interacting fixed points as good theories with additional free twisted hypermultiplets. [...]

The Space of Vacua of 3d $\mathcal{N}=3$ Abelian Theories / Assel, Benjamin (CERN)
We use brane techniques to study the space of vacua of abelian 3d $\mathcal{N}=3$ gauge theories. The coordinates on these spaces are the vevs of chiral monopole and meson operators, which are realized in the type IIB brane configuration of the theory by adding semi-infinite $(1,k)$ strings or F1 strings. Ring Relations and Mirror Map from Branes / Assel, Benjamin (CERN)
We study the space of vacua of three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=4$ theories from a novel approach building on the type IIB brane realization of the theory and in which the insertion of local chiral operators in the path integral is obtained from integrating out light modes in appropriate brane setups. Most of our analysis focuses on abelian quiver theories which can be realized as the low-energy theory of D3-D5-NS5 brane arrays. [...]

Six-dimensional Origin of $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM with Duality Defects / Assel, Benjamin (CERN ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math) ; Schäfer-Nameki, Sakura (Oxford U., Inst. Math. ; King's Coll. London, Dept. Math)
We study the topologically twisted compactification of the 6d $(2,0)$ M5-brane theory on an elliptically fibered K\"ahler three-fold preserving two supercharges. We show that upon reducing on the elliptic fiber, the 4d theory is $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super-Yang Mills, with varying complexified coupling $\tau$, in the presence of defects. [...]
