A simulation toolkit for electroluminescence assessment in rare event experiments / Oliveira, C.A.B. (Aveiro U.) ; Schindler, H. (Aveiro U.) ; Veenhof, R. (Aveiro U.) ; Biagi, S. (Aveiro U.) ; Monteiro, C.M.B. (Aveiro U.) ; Santos, J.M.F.dos (Aveiro U.) ; Ferreira, A.L. (Aveiro U.) ; Veloso, J.F.C.A. (Aveiro U.) ; Schindler, H. (CERN) ; Veenhof, R.J. (CERN ; Wisconsin U., Madison) et al.
A good understanding of electroluminescence is a prerequisite when optimising double-phase noble gas detectors for Dark Matter searches and high-pressure xenon TPCs for neutrinoless double beta decay detection. A simulation toolkit for calculating the emission of light through electron impact on neon, argon, krypton and xenon has been developed using the Magboltz and Garfield programs. [...]

A Honeycomb Proportional Counter for Photon Multiplicity Measurement in the ALICE Experiment / Aggarwal, M.M (Panjab U.) ; Badyal, S.K (Jammu U.) ; Bhatia, V.S (Panjab U.) ; Chattopadhyay, S (Calcutta, VECC) ; Dubey, A.K (Bhubaneswar, Inst. Phys.) ; Majumdar, M.R.Dutta (Calcutta, VECC) ; Ganti, M.S (Calcutta, VECC) ; Ghosh, P (Calcutta, VECC) ; Kumar, A (Panjab U.) ; Nayak, T.K (Calcutta, VECC) et al.
A honeycomb detector consisting of a matrix of 96 closely packed hexagonal cells, each working as a proportional counter with a wire readout, was fabricated and tested at the CERN PS. The cell depth and the radial dimensions of the cell were small, in the range of 5-10 mm. [...]
