Dependence of the prompt fission γ-ray spectrum on the entrance channel of compound nucleus: spontaneous vs neutron-induced fission
/ Wu, C Y (LLNL, Livermore) ; Chyzh, A (NCSU, Raleigh) ; Jaffke, P (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Henderson, R A (LLNL, Livermore) ; Talou, P (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Stetcu, I (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Henderson, J (LLNL, Livermore) ; Buckner, M Q (LLNL, Livermore) ; Sheets, S A (LLNL, Livermore) ; Hughes, R (LLNL, Livermore) et al.
Prompt γ-ray spectra were measured for neutron-induced fission of $^{239,241}$Pu with incident neutron energy from thermal to about 100 keV and spontaneous fission of $^{240,242}$Pu using the Detector for Advanced Neutron Capture Experiments (DANCE) array in coincidence with the detection of fission fragments by a parallel-plate avalanche counter. The unfolded prompt fission γ-ray spectra can be reproduced reasonably well by Monte Carlo Hauser-Feschbach statistical model for neutron-induced fission channel but not for the spontaneous fission channel. Description of fission: first comparison between microscopic and macroscopic-microscopic Potential Energy Surfaces
/ Verriere, M (Los Alamos) ; Kawano, T (Los Alamos) ; Mumpower, M R (Los Alamos) ; Talou, P (Los Alamos) ; Schunck, N (LLNL, Livermore)
The description of the fission process is challenging and has two modern
interpretations: on one hand, the microscopic approaches and on the other hand,
the macroscopic-microscopic approaches. From the perspective of macroscopic-
microscopic approaches, the nucleus is treated as a macroscopic system in a
first place, and microscopic corrections are then added. [...]

Fission Product Yield Calculation by Hauser-Feshbach Statistical Decay and Beta Decay
/ Okumura, Shin (Tokyo Inst. Tech.) ; Kawano, Toshihiko (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Jaffke, Patrick (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Talou, Patrick ; Yoshida, Tadashi (Tokyo Inst. Tech.) ; Chiba, Satoshi (Tokyo Inst. Tech.)
We demonstrate calculations of the prompt neutron emission, the independent and
cumulative fission product yield (FPY), decay heat, and delayed neutron yield of
235 U(n,f) starting from a set of the primary fission fragment distribution. We
employ the recently developed Hauser-Feshbach fragment decay code, HF 3 D, to
calculate the prompt neutron multiplicity and the independent FPY. [...]

Correlations between fission fragment yields and the prompt fission γ-ray spectrum
/ Jaffke, P (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Talou, P (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Kawano, T (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Theor. Div.) ; Stetcu, I ; Devlin, M (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Phys. Div.) ; Fotiades, N (Los Alamos Natl. Lab., Phys. Div.) ; Wu, C -Y (LLNL, Livermore) ; Chyzh, A (LLNL, Livermore)
We illustrate correlations between the prompt fission γ-ray spectrum (PFGS) and
the input fission fragment yields Y (A) with a Monte Carlo implementation of the
statistical Hauser-Feshbach decay theory, the CGMF code. We find that the slope
of the PFGS at high γ-ray energies is correlated to the yields near the closed-
shell 132 Sn nucleus. [...]

6 - 12 Nov 2016
- Sanibel Island, FL, USA
/ Hamilton, J H (ed.); Ramayya, A V (ed.); Talou, P (ed.)
The aim and scope of the conference and book were to bring world leaders in the areas of fission, structure of neutron-rich nuclei, superheavy elements, astrophysics and new facilities for these research areas to present the latest developments in both theory and experiment to serve as benchmarks for future research. World leaders describe the latest research including development of new facilities under construction to point out the latest and future direction in research. [...]
