CMS RPC performance and operation in LHC Run 3 / CMS Collaboration
The CMS experiment has collected more than 180 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data at a 13.6 TeV center-of-mass energy in Run 3 data taking (2022, 2023 and 2024). The CMS RPC system faces the challenge of the LHC delivered instantaneous luminosity of up to 2 x 10$^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$, providing redundant information for robust muon triggering, reconstruction and identification. A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. [...]

Observation of a new boson at a mass of 125 GeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC / CMS Collaboration
Results are presented from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 and 8 TeV in the CMS experiment at the LHC, using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 5.1 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 5.3 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. The search is performed in five decay modes: $\gamma\gamma$, ZZ, WW, $\tau^+ \tau^-$, and $b\bar{b}$. [...]

The first applications of newly developed gaseous detectors with resistive electrodes for UV imaging in daylight conditions / Bidault, J M (Pole Univ. Leonard de Vinci, Paris, France) ; Crotty, Ian (CERN) ; Di Mauro, A (CERN) ; Martinengo, P (CERN) ; Fonte, Paulo J R (LIP, Coimbra, Portugal) ; Galy, F (LIP, Coimbra, Portugal) ; Peskov, Vladimir (CERN) ; Rodionov, I (Reagent Research Center, Moscow, Russia) ; Zanette, O (Pole Univ. Leonard de Vinci, Paris, France)
We have demonstrated experimentally that recently developed gaseous detectors with resistive electrodes, combined with solid or gaseous photocathodes have low noise and high quantum efficiency for UV photons while being solar blind. For this reason, they can be used for the detection of weak UV sources in daylight conditions. [...]

We have demonstrated experimentally that recently developed gaseous detectors combined with solid or gaseous photo-cathodes have exceptionally low noise and high quantum efficiency for UV photons while being solar blind. For this reason they can be used for the detection of weak UV sources in daylight conditions. [...]

The production of the first set of forward Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC) for the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has started at CERN since June 2004. The detectors are assembled with gas gaps made in Korea, mechanics made in China and are equipped with the final front-end electronics, high/low-voltage distribution and threshold control. [...]

Study and optimization of RPCs for high rate applications / Carlson, P J ; Crotty, Ian ; Cwetanski, Peter ; Francke, T ; Fonte, Paulo J R ; Peskov, Vladimir ; Sharma, A
Due to the low cost, good time resolution and the properties of RPCs with respect to electronics damage protection, they are chosen for many large experiments. [...]
