EuPRAXIA – a compact, cost-efficient particle and radiation source
/ Weikum, M K (DESY) ; Akhter, T (INFN, Naples) ; Alesini, P D (LNF, Dafne Light) ; Alexandrova, A S (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Anania, M P (LNF, Dafne Light) ; Andreev, N E (Lebedev Inst. ; Moscow, MIPT) ; Andriyash, I (SOLEIL, Saint-Aubin) ; Aschikhin, A (DESY) ; Assmann, R W (DESY) ; Audet, T (LPGP, Orsay) et al.
Plasma accelerators present one of the most suitable candidates for the development of more compact particle
acceleration technologies, yet they still lag behind radiofrequency (RF)-based devices when it comes to beam quality,
control, stability and power efficiency. The Horizon 2020-funded project EuPRAXIA (“European Plasma Research
Accelerator with eXcellence In Applications”) aims to overcome the first three of these hurdles by developing a
conceptual design for a first international user facility based on plasma acceleration. [...]

Pair Spectrometer for FACET-II
/ Naranjo, Brian (UCLA) ; Andonian, Gerard (UCLA) ; Cavanagh, Niall (Queen's U., Belfast) ; Di Piazza, Antonino (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Fukasawa, Atsushi (UCLA) ; Gerstmayr, Elias (SLAC) ; Holtzapple, Robert (Cal. Poly.) ; Keitel, Christoph (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Majernik, Nathan (UCLA) ; Meuren, Sebastian (SLAC) et al.
We present the design of a pair spectrometer for use at FACET-II, where there is a need for spectroscopy of photons having energies up to 10 GeV. Incoming gammas are converted to high-energy positron-electron pairs, which are then subsequently analyzed in a dipole magnet. [...]

/ Kettle, B. (JAI, UK) ; Hollatz, D. (Helmholtz Inst., Jena ; U. Jena (main) ; Jena U.) ; Gerstmayr, E. (JAI, UK) ; Samarin, G.M. (Queen's U., Belfast) ; Alejo, A. (Queen's U., Belfast) ; Astbury, S. (Rutherford) ; Baird, C. (York U., England) ; Bohlen, S. (DESY) ; Campbell, M. (CERN) ; Colgan, C. (JAI, UK) et al.
We describe a laser-plasma platform for photon-photon collision experiments to measure fundamental quantum electrodynamic processes such as the linear Breit-Wheeler process with real photons. The platform has been developed using the Gemini laser facility at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. [...]

JUICE space mission to Jupiter
/ Sarri , Giuseppe (speaker)
JUICE - JUpiter ICy moons Explorer - is the first large-class mission in ESA's Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme. Planned for launch in 2022 and arrival at Jupiter in 2029, it will spend at least three years making detailed observations of the giant gaseous planet Jupiter and three of its largest moons, Ganymede, Callisto and Europa.
JUICE will perform detailed investigations of Jupiter and its system in all their inter-relations and complexity with particular emphasis on Ganymede as a planetary body and potential habitat. [...]
