Nonthermal Heavy Dark Matter from a First-Order Phase Transition / Giudice, Gian F. ; Lee, Hyun Min ; Pomarol, Alex ; Shakya, Bibhushan
We study nonthermal production of heavy dark matter from the dynamics of the background scalar field during a first-order phase transition, predominantly from bubble collisions. [...]

Cornering Large-$N_c$ QCD with Positivity Bounds / Fernandez, Clara (Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona) ; Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona ; Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; CERN) ; Riva, Francesco (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys.) ; Sciotti, Francesco (Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona)
The simple analytic structure of meson scattering amplitudes in the large-$N_c$ limit, combined with positivity of the spectral density, provides precise predictions on low-energy observables. Building upon previous studies, we explore the allowed regions of chiral Lagrangian parameters and meson couplings to pions. [...]

Wilson Coefficients and Natural Zeros from the On-Shell Viewpoint / Delle Rose, Luigi (Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona) ; von Harling, Benedict (Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona) ; Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona ; Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; CERN)
We show how to simplify the calculation of the finite contributions from heavy particles to EFT Wilson coefficients by using on-shell methods. We apply the technique to the one-loop calculation of $g-2$ and $H\gamma\gamma$, showing how finite contributions can be obtained from the product of tree-level amplitudes. [...]

Light scalars: From the lattice to the LHC via holography / Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona U. ; Barcelona, IFAE ; BIST, Barcelona)
We study the conformal to non-conformal transition in strongly-coupled theories using holography, trying to understand the presence of light scalars as recent lattice simulations seem to suggest. This can have important implications for solutions to the hierarchy problem via TeV strong-dynamicsand their searches at the LHC..

Electroweak Precision Tests in High-Energy Diboson Processes / Franceschini, Roberto (Rome III U. ; INFN, Rome3) ; Panico, Giuliano (Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; Barcelona, IFAE) ; Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; Barcelona, IFAE) ; Riva, Francesco (CERN) ; Wulzer, Andrea (CERN ; ITPP, Lausanne ; Padua U. ; INFN, Padua)
A promising avenue to perform precision tests of the SM at the LHC is to measure differential cross-sections at high invariant mass, exploiting in this way the growth with the energy of the corrections induced by heavy new physics. We classify the leading growing-with-energy effects in longitudinal diboson and in associated Higgs production processes, showing that they can be encapsulated in four real "high-energy primary" parameters. Models of electroweak symmetry breaking / Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, Autonoma U.)
This chapter present models of electroweak symmetry breaking arising from strongly interacting sectors, including both Higgsless models and mechanisms involving a composite Higgs. These scenarios have also been investigated in the framework of five-dimensional warped models that, according to the AdS/CFT correspondence, have a four-dimensional holographic interpretation in terms of strongly coupled field theories. Future Direction Beyond the Standard Theory / Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, Autonoma U.)
With the Higgs discovery, the full Standard Model (SM) has been experimentally established, and most of its sectors accurately tested. Nevertheless, the SM deeply relies in the presence of the Higgs, a spin-zero field, whose mass term is not expected, on theoretical grounds, to be much smaller than the Planck scale. [...]

Flavor hierarchies from dynamical scales / Panico, Giuliano (Barcelona, IFAE) ; Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, IFAE ; CERN ; Barcelona, Autonoma U.)
One main obstacle for any beyond the SM (BSM) scenario solving the hierarchy problem is its potentially large contributions to electric dipole moments. An elegant way to avoid this problem is to have the light SM fermions couple to the BSM sector only through bilinears, $\bar ff$. [...]

Patterns of Strong Coupling for LHC Searches / Liu, Da (Beijing, Inst. Theor. Phys. ; EPFL, Lausanne, LPTP) ; Pomarol, Alex (Barcelona, Autonoma U. ; Barcelona, IFAE ; CERN) ; Rattazzi, Riccardo (EPFL, Lausanne, LPTP) ; Riva, Francesco (CERN)
Even though the Standard Model (SM) is weakly coupled at the Fermi scale, a new strong dynamics involving its degrees of freedom may conceivably lurk at slightly higher energies, in the multi TeV range. Approximate symmetries provide a structurally robust context where, within the low energy description, the dimensionless SM couplings are weak, while the new strong dynamics manifests itself exclusively through higher-derivative interactions.
