New Upper Limit on the Axion-Photon Coupling with an Extended CAST Run with a Xe-Based Micromegas Detector / CAST Collaboration
Hypothetical axions provide a compelling explanation for dark matter and could be emitted from the hot solar interior. The CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) has been searching for solar axions via their back conversion to X-ray photons in a 9-T 10-m long magnet directed towards the Sun. [...]

Split-cavity tuning of a rectangular axion haloscope operating around 8.4 GHz / Golm, Jessica (CERN ; Jena U.) ; García-Barceló, Jose María (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Arguedas Cuendis, Sergio (CERN) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Wuensch, Walter (CERN) ; Döbrich, Babette (Munich, Max Planck Inst.)
The axion haloscope is the currently most sensitive method to probe the vanishingly small coupling of this prominent Dark Matter candidate to photons. To scan a sizeable axion Dark Matter parameter space, the cavities that make up the haloscope need to be tuned efficiently. [...]

A Proposal for a Low-Frequency Axion Search in the 1–2 μ$\umu$ eV Range and Below with the BabyIAXO Magnet / Ahyoune, Saiyd (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Melcón, Alejandro Álvarez (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Cuendis, Sergio Arguedas (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Cogollos, Cristian (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Devlin, Jack (Imperial Coll., London) ; Díaz-Morcillo, Alejandro (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Díez-Ibáñez, David (U. Zaragoza (main)) ; Döbrich, Babette (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Galindo, Javier (U. Zaragoza (main)) et al.
In the near future BabyIAXO will be the most powerful axion helioscope, relying on a custom-made magnet of two bores of 70 cm diameter and 10 m long, with a total available magnetic volume of more than 7 m$^3$. In this document, we propose and describe the implementation of low-frequency axion haloscope setups suitable for operation inside the BabyIAXO magnet. [...]

Search for dark matter axions with CAST-CAPP / Adair, C.M. (British Columbia U.) ; Altenmüller, K. (Zaragoza U.) ; Anastassopoulos, V. (Patras U.) ; Cuendis, S. Arguedas (CERN) ; Baier, J. (Freiburg U.) ; Barth, K. (CERN) ; Belov, A. (Moscow, INR) ; Bozicevic, D. (Rijeka U.) ; Bräuninger, H. (Garching, Max Planck Inst., MPE) ; Cantatore, G. (INFN, Trieste ; Trieste U.) et al.
The CAST-CAPP axion haloscope, operating at CERN inside the CAST dipole magnet, has searched for axions in the 19.74 $\mu$eV to 22.47 $\mu$eV mass range. The detection concept follows the Sikivie haloscope principle, where Dark Matter axions convert into photons within a resonator immersed in a magnetic field. [...]

Study on transient heat transfer at metal to dielectric interfaces in the temperature range between 3.5 K and 30 K / Koettig, T (CERN) ; Golm, J (CERN) ; Liberadzka, J (CERN) ; Borges de Sousa, P (CERN) ; Bremer, J (CERN)
The thermal conductivity and diffusivity across a combination of metallic and insulating layers are important thermodynamic input parameters for cooling studies of composite materials or assemblies built out of layers of different electrical and thermal conductivity. The dynamic response of such thermal contacts across electrically insulating layers can be expressed in terms of a diffusivity-like value, which is giving insight on the interface thermal resistance. In the framework of the AEgIS project a series of steady state and dynamic heat transfer measurements at ultra-low temperatures was conducted in the Central Cryogenic Laboratory at CERN. Two sandwich setups, simulating the behaviour of ultra-cold AEgIS electrodes, were investigated and compared, namely: a sapphire − indium − copper and a sapphire − titanium − gold − indium − copper sandwich. Design of New Resonant Haloscopes in the Search for the Dark Matter Axion: A Review of the First Steps in the RADES Collaboration / Díaz-Morcillo, Alejandro (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Barceló, José María García (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Guerrero, Antonio José Lozano (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Navarro, Pablo (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Gimeno, Benito (Valencia U., IFIC) ; Cuendis, Sergio Arguedas (CERN) ; Melcón, Alejandro Álvarez (Cartagena Politecnica U.) ; Cogollos, Cristian (Barcelona, IEEC) ; Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Döbrich, Babette (CERN) et al.
Within the increasing interest in the dark matter axion detection through haloscopes, in which different international groups are currently involved, the RADES group was established in 2016 with the goal of developing very sensitive detection systems to be operated in dipole magnets. This review deals with the work developed by this collaboration during its first five years, from the first designs, based on the multi-cavity concept, aiming to increase the haloscope volume and, so, to improve its sensitivity, their evolution, the data acquisition design, and, finally, the first experimental run.
