A New Boson with a Mass of 125 GeV Observed with the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider / CMS Collaboration
The Higgs boson was postulated nearly five decades ago within the framework of the standard model of particle physics and has been the subject of numerous searches at accelerators around the world. Its discovery would verify the existence of a complex scalar field thought to give mass to three of the carriers of the electroweak force—the W+, W–, and Z0 bosons—as well as to the fundamental quarks and leptons. Observation of a new boson at a mass of 125 GeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC / CMS Collaboration
Results are presented from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=7 and 8 TeV in the CMS experiment at the LHC, using data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 5.1 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 5.3 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. The search is performed in five decay modes: $\gamma\gamma$, ZZ, WW, $\tau^+ \tau^-$, and $b\bar{b}$. [...]

The Run Control and Monitoring System of the CMS Experiment / Bauer, Gerry (MIT) ; Boyer, Vincent (CERN) ; Branson, James G (UCLA, Los Angeles) ; Brett, Angela Mary (CERN) ; Cano, Eric (CERN) ; Carboni, Andrea (CERN) ; Ciganek, Marek (CERN) ; Cittolin, Sergio (CERN) ; O'dell, Vivian (Fermilab) ; Erhan, Samim (CERN ; UC, San Diego) et al.
The CMS experiment at the LHC at CERN will start taking data in 2008. To configure, control and monitor the experiment during data-taking the Run Control and Monitoring System (RCMS) was developed. [...]

Flexible custom designs for CMS DAQ / Arcidiacono, Roberta (INFN, Turin ; Piemonte Orientale U., Novara) ; Bauer, Gerry (MIT) ; Boyer, Vincent (CERN) ; Brett, Angela Mary (Fermilab) ; Cano, Eric (CERN) ; Carboni, Andrea (INFN, Pisa) ; Ciganek, Marek (CERN) ; Cittolin, Sergio (Zurich, ETH) ; Erhan, Samim (UCLA) ; Gigi, Dominique (CERN) et al.
The CMS central DAQ system is built using commercial hardware (PCs and networking equipment), except for two components: the Front-end Readout Link (FRL) and the Fast Merger Module (FMM). The FRL interfaces the sub-detector specific front-end electronics to the central DAQ system in a uniform way. [...]

The Terabit/s Super-Fragment Builder and Trigger Throttling System for the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment at CERN / Bauer, Gerry (MIT) ; Varela, Joao (LIP, Lisbon ; CERN) ; Boyer, Vincent (CERN) ; Branson, James (UC, San Diego) ; Brett, Angela (CERN) ; Cano, Eric (CERN) ; Carboni, Andrea (CERN) ; Ciganek, Marek (CERN) ; Cittolin, Sergio (CERN) ; Erhan, Samim (CERN ; UCLA) et al.
The Data Acquisition System of the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider reads out event fragments of an average size of 2 kilobytes from around 650 detector front-ends at a rate of up to 100 kHz. The first stage of event-building is performed by the Super-Fragment Builder employing custom-built electronics and a Myrinet optical network. [...]
