Precision spectroscopy and laser-cooling scheme of a radium-containing molecule / Udrescu, S M (MIT) ; Wilkins, S G (MIT) ; Breier, A A (Kassel U.) ; Athanasakis-Kaklamanakis, M (CERN ; Leuven U.) ; Ruiz, R F Garcia (MIT) ; Au, M (CERN ; Mainz U.) ; Belošević, I (TRIUMF) ; Berger, R (Philipps U. Molecules containing heavy radioactive nuclei are predicted to be extremely sensitive to violations of the fundamental symmetries of nature. The nuclear octupole deformation of certain radium isotopes massively boosts the sensitivity of radium monofluoride molecules to symmetry-violating nuclear properties. [...]

Electromagnetic properties of indium isotopes illuminate the doubly magic character of $^{100}$Sn / Karthein, J. (MIT) ; Ricketts, C.M. (Manchester U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R.F. (MIT ; Manchester U. ; CERN) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Binnersley, C.L. (Manchester U.) ; Cocolios, T.E. (Leuven U.) ; Dobaczewski, J. (York U., England ; Warsaw U.) ; Farooq-Smith, G.J. (Leuven U.) ; Flanagan, K.T. (Manchester U.) ; Georgiev, G. (IJCLab, Orsay) et al.
Our understanding of nuclear properties in the vicinity of $^{100}$Sn, suggested to be the heaviest doubly magic nucleus with equal numbers of protons (Z=50) and neutrons (N=50), has been a long-standing challenge for experimental and theoretical nuclear physics. Contradictory experimental evidence exists on the role of nuclear collectivity in this region of the nuclear chart. [...]

Nuclear moments of indium isotopes reveal abrupt change at magic number 82 / Vernon, A R (Manchester U. ; MIT ; Leuven U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R F (MIT ; CERN) ; Miyagi, T (TRIUMF) ; Binnersley, C L (Manchester U.) ; Billowes, J (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U.) ; Bonnard, J (York U., England) ; Cocolios, T E (Leuven U.) ; Dobaczewski, J (York U., England) ; Farooq-Smith, G J (Leuven U.) et al.
In spite of the high-density and strongly correlated nature of the atomic nucleus, experimental and theoretical evidence suggests that around particular ‘magic’ numbers of nucleons, nuclear properties are governed by a single unpaired nucleon$^{1,2}$. A microscopic understanding of the extent of this behaviour and its evolution in neutron-rich nuclei remains an open question in nuclear physics$^{3–5}$. [...]

(Peking U., SKLNPT ; TRIUMF) ; Yang, X.F. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Binnersley, C.L. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K. (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Campbell, P. (Manchester U.) ; Cheal, B. (Liverpool U.) et al.
The electric quadrupole moment of $^{49}$Sc was measured by collinear laser spectroscopy at CERN-ISOLDE to be $Q_{\rm s}=-0.159(8)$$e$b, and a nearly tenfold improvement in precision was reached for the electromagnetic moments of $^{47,49}$Sc. The single-particle behavior and nucleon-nucleon correlations are investigated with the electromagnetic moments of $Z=21$ isotopes and $N=28$ isotones as valence neutrons and protons fill the distinctive $0f_{7/2}$ orbit, respectively, located between magic numbers, 20 and 28. This paper presents high-precision spectroscopic measurements of atomic tin using five different resonanceionization schemes performed with the collinear resonance-ionization spectroscopy technique. Isotope shifts were measured for the stable tin isotopes from the $5s^2 5p^2$ $^3P_{0,1,2}$ and $^1S_0$ to the $5s^2 5p6s ^1P_1, ^3P_{1,2}$ and $5s^2 5p7s^1 P_1$ atomic levels. [...]

Isotope shifts of $^{223-226,228}$Ra$^{19}$F were measured for different vibrational levels in the electronic transition $A^{2}{}{\Pi}_{1/2}\leftarrow X^{2}{}{\Sigma}^{+}$. The observed isotope shifts demonstrate the particularly high sensitivity of radium monofluoride to nuclear size effects, offering a stringent test of models describing the electronic density within the radium nucleus. Charge radii of exotic potassium isotopes challenge nuclear theory and the magic character of $N = 32$ / Koszorús, Á. (Leuven U.) ; Yang, X.F. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Jiang, W.G. (U. Tennessee, Knoxville ; Oak Ridge ; Chalmers U. Tech.) ; Novario, S.J. (U. Tennessee, Knoxville ; Oak Ridge) ; Bai, S.W. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Binnersley, C.L. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Cocolios, T.E. (Leuven U.) ; Cooper, B.S. (Manchester U.) et al.
Nuclear charge radii are sensitive probes of different aspects of the nucleon-nucleon interaction and the bulk properties of nuclear matter; thus, they provide a stringent test and challenge for nuclear theory. The calcium region has been of particular interest, as experimental evidence has suggested a new magic number at $N = 32$ [1-3], while the unexpectedly large increases in the charge radii [4,5] open new questions about the evolution of nuclear size in neutron-rich systems.
