Assembly and Test of SQ01b, a Nb3Sn Quadrupole Magnet for the LHC Accelerator Research Program / Ferracin, P (LBL, Berkeley) ; Ambrosio, G (Fermilab) ; Bartlett, S E (LBL, Berkeley) ; Bordini, B (Fermilab) ; Carcagno, R H (Fermilab) ; Caspi, S (LBL, Berkeley) ; Dietderich, D R (LBL, Berkeley) ; Feher, S (Fermilab) ; Gourlay, S A (LBL, Berkeley) ; Hafalia, A R (LBL, Berkeley) et al.
The US LHC Accelerator Research Program (LARP) consists of four US laboratories (BNL, FNAL, LBNL, and SLAC) collaborating with CERN to achieve a successful commissioning of the LHC and to develop the next generation of Interaction Region magnets. In 2004, a large aperture Nb3Sn racetrack quadrupole magnet (SQ01) has been fabricated and tested at LBNL [...]

HTS Power Leads for the BTeV Interaction Region / Feher, Sandor ; Carcagno, Ruben H ; Orris, Darryl ; Pishchalnikov, Yu M ; Rabehl, Roger Jon ; Sylvester, C D ; Tartaglia, M ; Tompkins, John
A new Interaction Region for the BTEV experiment is planned to be built soon at Fermilab. This IR will require new superconducting quadrupole magnets and many additional power circuits for their operation. [...]

Measurements of Field Decay and Snapback Effect on Tevatron Dipole and Quadrupole Magnets / Velev, Gueorgui ; Ambrosio, Giorgio ; Annala, Gerald ; Bauer, Pierre ; Carcagno, Ruben H ; Di Marco, Joseph ; Glass, Henry ; Hanft, Ray ; Kephart, Robert ; Lamm, Michael J et al.
Since the beginning of 2002 an intensive measurement program has been performed at the Fermilab Magnet Test Facility to understand dynamic effects in the Tevatron magnets. Based on the results of this program a new correction algorithm was proposed to compensate for the decay of the sextupole field during the dwell at injection and for the subsequent field "snapback" during the first few seconds of the energy ramp. [...]

Test results of LHC interaction regions quadrupoles produced by Fermilab / Fehér, S ; Bossert, Rodger Clayton ; Carson, J ; Chichili, D R ; Kerby, J ; Lamm, M J ; Nicol, T ; Nobrega, A ; Ogitsu, T ; Orris, D et al.
The US-LHC Accelerator Project is responsible for the production of the Q2 optical elements of the final focus triplets in the LHC interaction regions. As part of this program Fermilab is in the process of manufacturing and testing cryostat assemblies (LQXB) containing two identical quadrupoles (MQXB) with a dipole corrector between them. [...]

Field quality measurements of the LQXB inner triplet quadrupoles for LHC / Velev, G V ; Bossert, Rodger Clayton ; Carcagno, R ; Di Marco, J ; Fehér, S ; Glass, H ; Kashikhin, V V ; Kerby, J ; Lamm, M J ; Makulski, A et al.
As a part of the USLHC program, Fermilab is building half of the inner triplet quadrupole magnets for the LHC. Two identical quadrupoles (MQXB) with a dipole corrector between them in a single cryogenic unit (LQXB) comprise the Q2 optical element of the final focus triplets in the interaction regions. [...]

Fermilab is developing and investigating different high-field magnets (HFM) for present and future accelerators. The HFM R&D; program focused on the 10-12 T magnets based on Nb/sub 3/Sn superconductor and explored both basic magnet technologies for brittle superconductors-wind-and-react and react-and-wind. [...]
