Identifying and Understanding Scientific Network Flows / Research Networking Technical Working Group Collaboration
The High-Energy Physics (HEP) and Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) communities have faced significant challenges in understanding their global network flows across the world’s research and education (R&E;) networks. This article describes the status of the work carried out to tackle this challenge by the Research Technical Networking Working Group (RNTWG) and the Scientific Network Tags (Scitags) initiative, including the evolving framework and tools, as well as our plans to improve network visibility before the next WLCG Network Data Challenge in early 2024. HEPScore: A new CPU benchmark for the WLCG / Giordano, Domenico (CERN) ; Barbet, Jean-Michel (SUBATECH, Nantes) ; Boccali, Tommaso (INFN, Pisa) ; Borge, Gonzalo Menéndez (CERN) ; Hollowell, Christopher (Brookhaven) ; Innocente, Vincenzo (CERN) ; Lampl, Walter (Arizona U.) ; Michelotto, Michele (INFN, Padua) ; Meinhard, Helge (CERN) ; Ondris, Ladislav (CERN) et al.
HEPScore is a new CPU benchmark created to replace the HEPSPEC06 benchmark that is currently used by the WLCG for procurement, computing resource pledges and performance studies. The development of the new benchmark, based on HEP applications or workloads, has involved many contributions from software developers, data analysts, experts of the experiments, representatives of several WLCG computing centres, as well as the WLCG HEPScore Deployment Task Force. PIONEER: Studies of Rare Pion Decays / PIONEER Collaboration
A next-generation rare pion decay experiment, PIONEER, is strongly motivated by several inconsistencies between Standard Model (SM) predictions and data pointing towards the potential violation of lepton flavor universality. [...]

Search for heavy neutrinos in \(\pi ^{ + } \to \mu ^{ + }\nu \) decay and status of lepton universality test in the PIENU experiment / Ito, S (Osaka U. ; Okayama U.) ; Aguilar-Arevalo, A (Mexico U., ICN) ; Aoki, M (Osaka U.) ; Blecher, M (Virginia Tech.) ; Britton, D I (Glasgow U.) ; vom Bruch, D (British Columbia U. ; Paris U., VI-VII) ; Bryman, D A (British Columbia U. ; TRIUMF) ; Chen, S (Tsinghua U., Beijing, Dept. Eng. Phys.) ; Comfort, J (Arizona State U.) ; Doria, L (TRIUMF ; Mainz U., Inst. Kernphys. ; U. Mainz, PRISMA) et al.
In the present work of the PIENU experiment, heavy neutrinos were sought in pion decays \(\pi ^{ + } \to \mu ^{ + }\nu \). No evidence for extra peak was found in the muon kinetic energy spectrum and 90% confidence level upper limits were set on the neutrino mixing matrix \(|U_{\mu i}|^{2}\) in the mass range of 15.7 to 33.8 MeV/c^2, improving an order of magnitude over previous experiments. Search for the rare decays $\pi^+ \to \mu^+\nu_\mu\nu\bar\nu$ and $\pi^+ \to e^+\nu_e\nu\bar\nu$ / PIENU Collaboration
The rare pion decays ${\pi}^+{\rightarrow}{\mu}^+{\nu}_{\mu}{\nu}\bar{\nu}$ and ${\pi}^+{\rightarrow}e^+{\nu}_{e}{\nu}\bar{\nu}$ are allowed in the Standard Model but highly suppressed. These decays were searched for using data from the PIENU experiment. [...]

Improved search for two body muon decay ${\mu}^+{\rightarrow}e^+X_H$ / PIENU Collaboration
Charged lepton flavor violating muon decay ${\mu}^+{\rightarrow}e^+X_H$, where $X_H$ is a massive neutral boson, was sought by searching for extra peaks in the muon decay ${\mu}^+{\rightarrow}e^+{\nu}\bar{\nu}$ energy spectrum in the $m_{X_H}$ mass region $47.8-95.1$ MeV/$c^2$. No signal was found and 90% confidence level upper limits were set on the branching ratio ${\Gamma}({\mu}^+{\rightarrow}e^+X_H)/{\Gamma}({\mu}^+{\rightarrow}e^+{\nu}\bar{\nu})$ at the level of $10^{-5}$ for this region..

Search for Heavy Neutrinos in $\pi \to \mu\nu$ Decay / PIENU Collaboration
Heavy neutrinos were sought in pion decays $\pi^+ \rightarrow \mu^+ \nu$ by examining the observed muon energy spectrum for extra peaks in addition to the expected peak for a massless neutrino. No evidence for heavy neutrinos was observed. [...]
