Creation and characterisation of multi-charged cerium beams at TRIUMF’s OLIS
/ Justus, P (U. Heidelberg (main) ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Charles, C R J (TRIUMF ; Western Ontario U. ; Simon Fraser U.) ; Ames, F (TRIUMF) ; Jayamanna, K (TRIUMF) ; Malbrunot-Ettenauer, S (TRIUMF ; CERN)
A novel $^{140}$Ce$^{n+}$ stable ion beam was developed at TRIUMF’s Off-Line Ion Source (OLIS) facility for fundamental research into (i) astrophysical processes, and (ii) forming lanthanide molecules with O$_{2}$ gas and halogens. This first creation of a multi-charged $^{140}$Ce beam at OLIS is a successful chemical analog for actinide beams and molecule formation at TRIUMF’s TITAN facility for future electron dipole moment (EDM) measurements with rare radioactive thorium molecules..

Simulations of a cryogenic, buffer-gas filled Paul trap for low-emittance ion bunches
/ Lechner, S (CERN ; Vienna, Tech. U. ; McGill U.) ; Sels, S (CERN) ; Belosevic, I (TRIUMF) ; Buchinger, F (McGill U.) ; Fischer, P (Greifswald U.) ; Kanitz, C (Erlangen - Nuremberg U.) ; Lagaki, V (CERN ; Greifswald U.) ; Maier, F M (CERN ; Greifswald U.) ; Plattner, P (CERN ; Innsbruck U.) ; Schweikhard, L (Greifswald U.) et al.
Many experiments with pulsed ion beams benefit from or even require ion bunches with both small temporal width as well as small energy spread. To achieve optimal ion-beam preparation, a buffer-gas filled cryogenic Paul trap is being developed in the context of the Multi Ion Reflection Apparatus for Collinear Laser Spectroscopy (MIRACLS). Electromagnetic moments of the odd-mass nickel isotopes $^{59-67}$Ni
/ Müller, P. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Kaufmann, S. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) ; Miyagi, T. (Darmstadt, Tech. U. ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst. ; Darmstadt, EMMI) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K. (Darmstadt, EMMI) ; Cheal, B. (Liverpool U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R.F. (CERN) ; Gins, W. (Leuven U.) ; Gorges, C. (Darmstadt, Tech. U.) et al.
The magnetic dipole and the spectroscopic quadrupole moments of the nuclear ground states in the odd-mass nickel isotopes $^{59-67}$Ni have been determined using collinear laser spectroscopy at the CERN-ISOLDE facility. They are compared to ab initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group (VS-IMSRG) calculations including contributions of two-body currents as well as to shell-model calculations. Nuclear charge radii of germanium isotopes around $N$ = 40
/ Wang, S.J. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Kanellakopoulos, A. (Leuven U.) ; Yang, X.F. (Peking U., SKLNPT ; Leuven U.) ; Bai, S.W. (Peking U., SKLNPT) ; Billowes, J. (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K. (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Cheal, B. (Manchester U.) ; Devlin, C.S. (Manchester U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R.F. (MIT ; CERN) et al.
Collinear laser spectroscopy measurements were performed on $^{68-74}$Ge isotopes ($Z = 32$) at ISOLDE-CERN, by probing the $4s^2 4p^2 \, ^3\!P_1 \rightarrow 4s^2 4p 5s \, ^3\!P_1^o$ atomic transition (269~nm) of germanium. Nuclear charge radii are determined via the measured isotope shifts, revealing a larger local variation than the neighboring isotopic chains. [...]

Electromagnetic moments of the antimony isotopes $^{112−133}$Sb
/ Lechner, S. (CERN ; Vienna, Tech. U., Atominst.) ; Miyagi, T. (Darmstadt, EMMI ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst. ; TRIUMF) ; Xu, Z.Y. (Leuven U. ; Tennessee U.) ; Bissell, M.L. (CERN ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) et al.
Nuclear moments of the antimony isotopes $^{113-133}$Sb are measured by collinear laser spectroscopy and used to benchmark phenomenological shell-model and \textit{ab initio} calculations in the valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group (VS-IMSRG). The shell-model calculations reproduce the electromagnetic moments over all Sb isotopes when suitable effective $g$-factors and charges are employed. [...]

Nuclear charge radius of $^{26m}$Al and its implication for V$_{ud}$ in the quark-mixing matrix

Collinear laser spectroscopy was performed on the isomer of the aluminium isotope $^{26m}$Al. The measured isotope shift to $^{27}$Al in the $3s^{2}3p\;^{2}\!P^\circ_{3/2} \rightarrow 3s^{2}4s\;^{2}\!S_{1/2}$ atomic transition enabled the first experimental determination of the nuclear charge radius of $^{26m}$Al, resulting in $R_c$=\qty{3.130±.015}{\femto\meter}. Molecules containing short-lived, radioactive nuclei are uniquely positioned to enable a wide range of scientific discoveries in the areas of fundamental symmetries, astrophysics, nuclear structure, and chemistry. Recent advances in the ability to create, cool, and control complex molecules down to the quantum level, along with recent and upcoming advances in radioactive species production at several facilities around the world, create a compelling opportunity to coordinate and combine these efforts to bring precision measurement and control to molecules containing extreme nuclei.
