CMB-S4: Forecasting Constraints on Primordial Gravitational Waves / CMB-S4 Collaboration
CMB-S4---the next-generation ground-based cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiment---is set to significantly advance the sensitivity of CMB measurements and enhance our understanding of the origin and evolution of the Universe, from the highest energies at the dawn of time through the growth of structure to the present day. Constraints on the Richness-Mass Relation and the Optical-SZE Positional Offset Distribution for SZE-Selected Clusters / DES Collaboration
We cross-match galaxy cluster candidates selected via their Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect (SZE) signatures in 129.1 deg$^2$ of the South Pole Telescope 2500d SPT-SZ survey with optically identified clusters selected from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) science verification data. We identify 25 clusters between $0.1\lesssim z\lesssim 0.8$ in the union of the SPT-SZ and redMaPPer (RM) samples. [...]

Study of Various Photomultiplier Tubes with Muon Beams And Cerenkov Light Produced in Electron Showers / Chatrchyan, Serguei (YEREVAN) ; Khachatryan, Vardan (YEREVAN) ; Sirunyan, Albert M (YEREVAN) ; Mossolov, Vladimir (MINSK-NCPHEP) ; Shumeiko, Nikolai (MINSK-NCPHEP) ; De Wolf, Eddi A (ANTWERPEN) ; Ochesanu, Silvia (ANTWERPEN) ; Roland, Benoit (ANTWERPEN) ; Van Haevermaet, Hans (ANTWERPEN) ; Van Mechelen, Pierre (ANTWERPEN) et al.
The PMTs of the CMS Hadron Forward calorimeter were found to generate a large size signal when their windows were traversed by energetic charged particles. This signal, which is due to Cerenkov light production at the PMT window, could interfere with the calorimeter signal and mislead the measurements. [...]

Commissioning and performance of the CMS pixel tracker with cosmic ray muons / CMS Collaboration
The pixel detector of the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment consists of three barrel layers and two disks for each endcap. The detector was installed in summer 2008, commissioned with charge injections, and operated in the 3.8 T magnetic field during cosmic ray data taking. [...]

Measurement of the muon stopping power in lead tungstate / CMS Collaboration
A large sample of cosmic ray events collected by the CMS detector is exploited to measure the specific energy loss of muons in the lead tungstate (PbWO$_4$) of the electromagnetic calorimeter. The measurement spans a momentum range from 5 GeV/$c$ to 1 TeV/$c$. [...]

Performance of the CMS Level-1 trigger during commissioning with cosmic ray muons and LHC beams / CMS Collaboration
The CMS Level-1 trigger was used to select cosmic ray muons and LHC beam events during data-taking runs in 2008, and to estimate the level of detector noise. This paper describes the trigger components used, the algorithms that were executed, and the trigger synchronisation. [...]

Performance of CMS muon reconstruction in cosmic-ray events / CMS Collaboration
The performance of muon reconstruction in CMS is evaluated using a large data sample of cosmic-ray muons recorded in 2008. Efficiencies of various high-level trigger, identification, and reconstruction algorithms have been measured for a broad range of muon momenta, and were found to be in good agreement with expectations from Monte Carlo simulation. Commissioning and performance of the CMS silicon strip tracker with cosmic ray muons / CMS Collaboration
During autumn 2008, the Silicon Strip Tracker was operated with the full CMS experiment in a comprehensive test, in the presence of the 3.8 T magnetic field produced by the CMS superconducting solenoid. Cosmic ray muons were detected in the muon chambers and used to trigger the readout of all CMS sub-detectors. [...]
