Background in the CMS muon detectors: simulation and measurements with pp collision data / Costantini, Silvia (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS muon system at the LHC is built of different detector technologies. The measurement of the background hit rates in the different muon detectors during the LHC Run-2 is of prime importance for an assessment of the longevity of the chambers and their on-board electronics, and therefore for the expected performance of the system at HL-LHC. Measurement of the mass difference between top quark and antiquark in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 8$ TeV / CMS Collaboration
The invariance of the standard model (SM) under the CPT transformation predicts equality of particle and antiparticle masses. This prediction is tested by measuring the mass difference between the top quark and antiquark (Delta m[t] = m[t] - m[t-bar]) that are produced in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, using events with a muon or an electron and at least four jets in the final state. Measurements of the $\mathrm{ t \bar{t} }$ production cross section in lepton+jets final states in pp collisions at 8 TeV and ratio of 8 to 7 TeV cross sections / CMS Collaboration
A measurement of the top quark pair production ($\mathrm{ t \bar{t} }$) cross section in proton-proton collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV is presented using data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.6 fb$^{-1}$. This analysis is performed in the $\mathrm{ t \bar{t} }$ decay channels with one isolated, high transverse momentum electron or muon and at least four jets, at least one of which is required to be identified as originating from hadronization of a b quark. Production of leading charged particles and leading charged-particle jets at small transverse momenta in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The per-event yield of the highest transverse momentum charged particle and charged-particle jet, integrated above a given $p_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathrm{min}}$ threshold starting at $p_{\mathrm{T}}^{\mathrm{min}} = $ 0.8 and 1 GeV, respectively, is studied in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 8 TeV. The particles and the jets are measured for absolute pseudorapidities lower than 2.4 and 1.9, respectively. [...]

February 1 (th) 2013 marked the end of the first period of running of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the start of a two-year break from operation (LS1) aimed at consolidating both the accelerator as well as the detectors. By the end of LS1, the LHC is expected to provide collisions at 13 Tev. [...]

Measurement of the differential cross section for top quark pair production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 8 TeV / CMS Collaboration
The normalized differential cross section for top quark pair ($ \mathrm{ t \bar{t} } $) production is measured in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV at the CERN LHC using the CMS detector in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. The measurements are performed in the lepton+jets (e/$ \mu $+jets) and in the dilepton (ee, $ \mu \mu $, and e$ \mu $) decay channels. [...]

Measurement of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ =7 TeV / CMS Collaboration
Measurements of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV are presented in kinematic regions defined by the masses $M_X$ and $M_Y$ of the two final-state hadronic systems separated by the largest rapidity gap in the event. Differential cross sections are measured as a function of $\xi_X= M^2_X/s$ in the region $\log_{10}\xi_X$ between $-5.5$ and $-2.5$, for $\log_{10}M_Y$ lower than $0.5$, dominated by single dissociation (SD), and $\log_{10}M_Y$ between $0.5$ and $1.1$, dominated by double dissociation (DD), where $M_X$ and $M_Y$ are given in GeV.
