Improvement of the LHC orbit feedback testing framework / Calia, Andrea (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Wenninger, Jorg (CERN) ; Hostettler, Michi (CERN) ; Jackson, Stephen (CERN)
During the Long Shutdown 2 (LS2 2019-2021) of the LHC, the orbit feedback correction software (OFB) of the LHC was redesigned to satisfy new requirements for LHC Run 3 (2022-2025) and to clean up legacy functionalities. The OFB is an essential component of LHC high intensity operation since the orbit must be stabilized to a fraction of the beam size during the entire LHC machine cycle. [...]

Operation of the LHC during the 2023 proton run / Calia, Andrea (CERN) ; Salvant, Benoit (CERN) ; Mirarchi, Daniele (CERN) ; Nisbet, David (CERN) ; Jacquet, Delphine (CERN) ; Métral, Elias (CERN) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Trad, Georges (CERN) ; Wenninger, Jorg (CERN) ; Solfaroli, Matteo (CERN) et al.
In 2023 the LHC restarted after the yearly winter shutdown with a new machine configuration optimized for intensities of up to 1.8e+11 protons per bunch. In the first two months of the 2023 run the bunch intensities were pushed up to 1.6e+11 protons per bunch until a severe vacuum degradation, caused by a damaged RF bridge, occurred close to the ATLAS experiment. [...]

Summary of the Post-Long Shutdown 2 LHC Hardware Commissioning Campaign / Apollonio, Andrea (CERN) ; Andreassen, Odd (CERN) ; Antoine, Alain (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN) ; Bastos, Miguel (CERN) ; Bednarek, Mateusz (CERN) ; Bordini, Bernardo (CERN) ; Brodzinski, Krzysztof (CERN) ; Calia, Andrea (CERN) ; Charifoulline, Zinour (CERN) et al.
In this contribution we provide a summary of the LHC hardware commissioning campaign following the second CERN Long Shutdown (LS2), initially targeting the nominal LHC energy of 7 TeV. A summary of the test procedures and tools used for testing the LHC superconducting circuits is given, together with statistics on the successful test execution. [...]

Renovation of the Beam-Based Feedback Controller in the LHC / Grech, Leander (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Calia, Andrea (CERN) ; Hostettler, Michael (CERN) ; Jackson, Stephen (CERN) ; Valentino, Gianluca (U. Malta) ; Wenninger, Jorg (CERN)
This work presents an extensive overview of the design choices and implementation of the Beam-Based Feedback System (BBFS) used in operation until the LHC Run 2. The main limitations of the BBFS are listed and a new design called BFCLHC, which uses the CERN Front-End Software Architecture (FESA), framework is proposed. [...]

LHC Operational Experience of the 6.5 TeV Proton Run with ATS Optics / Pojer, Mirko (CERN) ; Albert, Markus (CERN) ; Alemany-Fernández, Reyes (CERN) ; Argyropoulos, Theodoros (CERN) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Calia, Andrea (CERN) ; Crockford, Guy (CERN) ; Fartoukh, Stephane (CERN) ; Fuchsberger, Kajetan (CERN) ; Giachino, Rossano (CERN) et al.
In May 2017, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) restarted operations at 6.5 TeV using the Achromatic Telescopic Squeeze (ATS) scheme with a target beta-star of 40 cm in ATLAS and CMS. The number of bunches was progressively increased to a maximum of 2556 with emittances of 2.5 um. [...]

Deployment of an open sensorized platform in a smart city context / Trilles, Sergio (Jaume I U., Castellon) ; Calia, Andrea (CERN) ; Belmonte, Óscar (Jaume I U., Castellon) ; Torres-Sospedra, Joaquín (Jaume I U., Castellon) ; Montoliu, Raúl (Jaume I U., Castellon) ; Huerta, Joaquín (Jaume I U., Castellon)
The race to achieve smart cities is producing a continuous effort to adapt new developments and knowledge, for administrations and citizens. Information and Communications Technology are called on to be one of the key players to get these cities to use smart devices and sensors (Internet of Things) to know at every moment what is happening within the city, in order to make decisions that will improve the management of resources.
