New exotic beams from the SPIRAL 1 upgrade
/ Delahaye, P. (GANIL) ; Dubois, M. (GANIL) ; Maunoury, L. (GANIL) ; Annaluru, A. (GANIL) ; Angot, J. (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Bajeat, O. (GANIL) ; Blank, B. (CENBG, Gradignan) ; Cam, J.C. (Caen U.) ; Chauveau, P. (GANIL ; CSNSM, Orsay) ; Frigot, R. (GANIL) et al.
Since 2001, the SPIRAL 1 facility has been one of the pioneering facilities in ISOL techniques for reaccelerating radioactive ion beams: the fragmentation of the heavy ion beams of GANIL on graphite targets and subsequent ionization in the Nanogan ECR ion source has permitted to deliver beams of gaseous elements (He, N, O, F, Ne, Ar, Kr) to numerous experiments. Thanks to the CIME cyclotron, energies up to 20 AMeV could be obtained. [...]

In-gas laser ionization and spectroscopy of actinium isotopes near the $N=126$ closed shell
/ Granados, C (Leuven U.) ; Creemers, P (Leuven U.) ; Ferrer, R (Leuven U.) ; Gaffney, L P (Leuven U.) ; Gins, W (Leuven U.) ; de Groote, R (Leuven U.) ; Huyse, M (Leuven U.) ; Kudryavtsev, Yu (Leuven U.) ; Martinez, Y (Leuven U.) ; Raeder, S (Leuven U.) et al.
The in-gas laser ionization and spectroscopy (IGLIS) technique was applied on the Ac212–215 isotopes, produced at the Leuven Isotope Separator On-Line (LISOL) facility by using the in-gas-cell and the in-gas-jet methods. The first application under on-line conditions of the in-gas-jet laser spectroscopy method showed a superior performance in terms of selectivity, spectral resolution, and efficiency in comparison with the in-gas-cell method. Resonant laser ionization and spectroscopy are widely used techniques at radioactive ion
beam facilities to produce pure beams of exotic nuclei and measure the shape, size, spin and
electromagnetic multipole moments of these nuclei. However, in such measurements it is
difficult to combine a high efficiency with a high spectral resolution. [...]

Optimizing charge breeding techniques for ISOL facilities in Europe: Conclusions from the EMILIE project
/ Delahaye, P (GANIL) ; Galatà, A (INFN, Legnaro) ; Angot, J (LPSC, Grenoble) ; Cam, J F (Caen U.) ; Traykov, E (Caen U.) ; Ban, G (Caen U.) ; Celona, L (INFN, LNS) ; Choinski, J (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Gmaj, P (Warsaw U., Heavy Ion Lab) ; Jardin, P (GANIL) et al.
The present paper summarizes the results obtained from the past few years in the framework of the Enhanced Multi-Ionization of short-Lived Isotopes for Eurisol (EMILIE) project. The EMILIE project aims at improving the charge breeding techniques with both Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Sources (ECRIS) and Electron Beam Ion Sources (EBISs) for European Radioactive Ion Beam (RIB) facilities. First high-statistics and high-resolution recoil-ion data from the WITCH retardation spectrometer
/ Finlay, P (Leuven U.) ; Breitenfeldt, M (Leuven U.) ; Porobić, T (Leuven U.) ; Wursten, E (Leuven U.) ; Ban, G (Caen U.) ; Beck, M (Munster U.) ; Couratin, C (Leuven U.) ; Fabian, X (Caen U.) ; Fléchard, X (Caen U.) ; Friedag, P (Munster U.) et al.
The first high-statistics and high-resolution data set for the integrated recoil-ion energy spectrum following the $ \beta^+$ decay of$^{35}$Ar has been collected with the WITCH retardation spectrometer located at CERN-ISOLDE. Over 25 million recoil-ion events were recorded on a large-area multichannel plate (MCP) detector with a time-stamp precision of 2ns and position resolution of 0.1mm due to the newly upgraded data acquisition based on the LPC Caen FASTER protocol. Developments towards in-gas-jet laser spectroscopy studies of actinium isotopes at LISOL
/ Raeder, S (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Bastin, B (GANIL) ; Block, M (Helmholtz-Institut Mainz) ; Creemers, P (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Delahaye, P (GANIL) ; Ferrer, R (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Fléchard, X (Caen U.) ; Franchoo, S (Orsay, IPN) ; Ghys, L (KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. To study exotic nuclides at the borders of stability with laser ionization and spectroscopy techniques, highest efficiencies in combination with a high spectral resolution are required. These usually opposing requirements are reconciled by applying the in-gas-laser ionization and spectroscopy (IGLIS) technique in the supersonic gas jet produced by a de Laval nozzle installed at the exit of the stopping gas cell. A new FEBIAD-type ion source for the upgrade of SPIRAL1 at GANIL

The SPIRAL facility at GANIL is being upgraded with a new FEBIAD ion source in order to extend its production capabilities to condensable elements. The coupling of such an ion source with the present GANIL target was recently tested online at SPIRAL at nominal power (1200 W). [...]

High-precision half-life measurements of the T=1/2 mirror β decays F17 and Cl33
/ Grinyer, J (GANIL) ; Grinyer, G F (GANIL) ; Babo, M (GANIL) ; Bouzomita, H (GANIL) ; Chauveau, P (GANIL) ; Delahaye, P (GANIL) ; Dubois, M (GANIL) ; Frigot, R (GANIL) ; Jardin, P (GANIL) ; Leboucher, C (GANIL) et al.
Background: Measurements of the ft values for T=1/2 mirror β+ decays offer a method to test the conserved vector current hypothesis and to determine Vud, the up-down matrix element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix. In most mirror decays used for these tests, uncertainties in the ft values are dominated by the uncertainties in the half-lives. [...]

High-precision half-life measurement for the isospin T=1/2 mirror β+ decay of $^{21}$Na
/ Grinyer, J (GANIL) ; Grinyer, G F (GANIL) ; Babo, M (GANIL) ; Bouzomita, H (GANIL) ; Chauveau, P (GANIL) ; Delahaye, P (GANIL) ; Dubois, M (GANIL) ; Frigot, R (GANIL) ; Jardin, P (GANIL) ; Leboucher, C (GANIL) et al.
The half-life of the isospin T=1/2 mirror β+ decay of Na21 was measured at the GANIL-SPIRAL radioactive ion beam facility to be T1/2=22.422 (10) s, a result that is more than a factor of 5 times more precise than the previous world average, with a resulting ft value that is now two times more precise. The precision of this new result implies that the half-life is no longer the dominant source of uncertainty in the Ft value used in the calculation of Vud from mirror decays to test the conserved vector current hypothesis of the standard model.
