Validity of SMEFT studies of VH and VV Production at NLO / Baglio, Julien (CERN) ; Dawson, Sally (Brookhaven) ; Homiller, Samuel (YITP, Stony Brook) ; Lane, Samuel D. (Brookhaven ; Kansas U.) ; Lewis, Ian M. (Kansas U.)
The production of $W^{\pm}H$, $ZH$, $W^+W^-$, and $W^\pm Z$ pairs probes non-Standard-Model interactions of quarks, gauge bosons, and the Higgs boson. New effects can be parameterized in terms of an effective field theory (EFT) where the Lagrangian is expanded in terms of higher-dimension operators suppressed by increasing powers of a high scale $\Lambda$. This document summarises the current theoretical and experimental status of the di-Higgs boson production searches, and of the direct and indirect constraints on the Higgs boson self-coupling, with the wish to serve as a useful guide for the next years. The document discusses the theoretical status, including state-of-the-art predictions for di-Higgs cross sections, developments on the effective field theory approach, and studies on specific new physics scenarios that can show up in the di-Higgs final state. Report from Working Group 3 : Beyond the Standard Model physics at the HL-LHC and HE-LHC / Cid Vidal, Xabier (Santiago de Compostela U., IGFAE) ; D'Onofrio, Monica (Liverpool U.) ; Fox, Patrick J (Fermilab) ; Torre, Riccardo (CERN ; INFN, Genoa) ; Ulmer, Keith A (Colorado U.) ; Aboubrahim, Amin (Northeastern U.) ; Albert, Andreas (RWTH Aachen U.) ; Alimena, Juliette (Ohio State U., Columbus (main)) ; Allanach, Benjamin C (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Alpigiani, Cristiano (Washington U., Seattle) et al.
This is the third out of five chapters of the final report [1] of the Workshop on Physics at HL-LHC, and perspectives on HE-LHC [2]. It is devoted to the study of the potential, in the search for Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics, of the High Luminosity (HL) phase of the LHC, defined as $3$ ab$^{-1}$ of data taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV, and of a possible future upgrade, the High Energy (HE) LHC, defined as $15$ ab$^{-1}$ of data at a centre-of-mass energy of 27 TeV. Report from Working Group 1 : Standard Model Physics at the HL-LHC and HE-LHC / Azzi, P. (INFN, Padua) ; Farry, S. (Liverpool U.) ; Nason, P. (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Milan Bicocca U.) ; Tricoli, A. (Brookhaven Natl. Lab.) ; Zeppenfeld, D. (KIT, Karlsruhe, TP) ; Abdul Khalek, R. (Vrije U., Amsterdam ; NIKHEF, Amsterdam) ; Alimena, J. (Ohio State U.) ; Andari, N. (IRFU, Saclay) ; Aperio Bella, L. (CERN) ; Armbruster, A.J. (CERN) et al.
The successful operation of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the excellent performance of the ATLAS, CMS, LHCb and ALICE detectors in Run-1 and Run-2 with $pp$ collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV as well as the giant leap in precision calculations and modeling of fundamental interactions at hadron colliders have allowed an extraordinary breadth of physics studies including precision measurements of a variety physics processes. The LHC results have so far confirmed the validity of the Standard Model of particle physics up to unprecedented energy scales and with great precision in the sectors of strong and electroweak interactions as well as flavour physics, for instance in top quark physics.
