Evaluating a radiation monitor for mixed-field environments based on SRAM technology
/ Tsiligiannis, G (Montpellier U.) ; Dilillo, L (Montpellier U.) ; Bosio, A (Montpellier U.) ; Girard, P (Montpellier U.) ; Pravossoudovitch, S (Montpellier U.) ; Todri, A (Montpellier U.) ; Virazel, A (Montpellier U.) ; Mekki, J (CERN) ; Brugger, M (CERN) ; Wrobel, F (Montpellier U.) et al.
Instruments operating in particle accelerators and colliders are exposed to radiations that are composed of particles of different types and energies. Several of these instruments often embed devices that are not hardened against radiation effects [...]

Flip chip assembly of thinned chips for hybrid pixel detector applications
/ Fritzsch, T (IZM) ; Zoschke, K (IZM) ; Woehrmann, M (TU Berlin) ; Rothermund, M (IZM) ; Huegging, F (UBONN) ; Ehrmann, O (TU Berlin) ; Oppermann, H (IZM) ; Lang, K.D (TU Berlin)
There is a steady trend to ultra-thin microelectronic devices. Especially for future particle detector systems a reduced readout chip thickness is required to limit the loss of tracking precision due to scattering. [...]

Radiation-hard Active Pixel Sensors for HL-LHC Detector Upgrades based on HV-CMOS Technology
/ Miucci, A (Geneva U.) ; Gonella, L. (Bonn U.) ; Hemperek, T. (Bonn U.) ; Hügging, F. (Bonn U.) ; Krüger, H. (Bonn U.) ; Obermann, T. (Bonn U.) ; Wermes, N. (Bonn U.) ; Garcia-Sciveres, M. (LBL, Berkeley) ; Backhaus, M. (CERN) ; Capeans, M. (CERN) et al.
Luminosity upgrades are discussed for the LHC (HL-LHC) which would make updates to the detectors necessary, requiring in particular new, even more radiation-hard and granular, sensors for the inner detector region. 1Corresponding author. [...]

Tracking detectors in particle physics experiments allow a precise reconstruction of particle tracks close to the interaction point and the identification of primary and secondary decay vertices. In order to evaluate the performance of detector prototypes for future particle physics experiments — at hadron colliders (e.g. [...]

We present the results of the characterization of silicon pixel modules employing n-in-p planar sensors with an active thickness of 150 μm, produced at MPP/HLL, and 100-200 μm thin active edge sensor devices, produced at VTT in Finland. These thin sensors are designed as candidates for the ATLAS pixel detector upgrade to be operated at the HL-LHC, as they ensure radiation hardness at high fluences. [...]

(FBK, CIT, Trento)
In view of the LHC upgrade phases towards the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), the ATLAS experiment plans to upgrade the Inner Detector with an all-silicon system. Because of its radiation hardness and cost effectiveness, the n-on-p silicon technology is a promising candidate for a large area pixel detector. [...]
