Stopping, heating, thermalization and expansion at SPS energies / Gaardhoje, J J (Copenhagen U.)
The Pb beam at 158AGeV from the CERN SPS accelerator which was taken into use in the fall of 1994 has opened a new dimension in the study of highly excited nuclear matter in heavy ion reactions. It has now become possible to form reasonably large volumes (containing more than 300 nucleons) in central collisions between heavy ions, with energy and matter densities in some parts of the volume exceeding those expected for the phase transition from hadronic matter to deconfined quark and gluon matter. Two-proton correlations in $p$ + Pb and S + Pb collisions at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron / Potekhin, Maxim
Two-proton correlations in $^{32}$S + $^{208}$Pb collisions at 200 GeV/c per nucleon and $p$ + $^{208}$Pb collisions at 450 GeV/c are presented, as measured by the focusing spectrometer of the NA44 experiment at CERN [...]

Particle production in central Pb + Pb collisions at 158 AGeV/c / NA44 Collaboration
The NA44 experiment has measured single-particle inclusive spectra for charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of transverse mass near midrapidity in 158A GeV/c Pb+Pb collisions. From the particle mass dependence of the observed m/sub T/ distributions, we are able to deduce a value of about 120 MeV for the temperature at thermal freeze-out. [...]

High transverse mass pion and proton correlations in central Pb Pb collisions at $\sqrt{S_{NN}}$ = 17GeV/nucleon / NA44 Collaboration
For central Pb Pb collisions at a center of mass energy of $\sqrt{S_{NN}}$ = 17.3 GeV/nucleon we have made the first two-dimensional measurement of the pp correlation function. [...]

Proton and deuteron production has been observed in S+S and S+Pb collisions at 200 A GeV and in Pb+Pb reactions at 158 A GeV at the CERN SPS accelerator. For Pb+Pb triton production was also measured. [...]
